Shore Place

Shore Place Resort was once a go to vacation spot on Lake Ripley. George Wahl developed the business. It grew until the motel and cottages could accommodate up to 100 families. The Shore Place Resort offered dining, dancing, groceries, boat rental, beach and swimming. Lois Hubbard managed the dining room for lunch and dinner. It was well known for Friday night walleye pike and homemade pizza pie. There was a strawberry patch out back that provided fresh fruit for desserts in June. Families would come back to their same cottage, year after year. Eventually, many families bought their favorite cottage. Shore Place was closed, and an association of property owners was formed. The Shore Place building was torn down in the early 80s. An expanded private beach for Shore Place residents has now taken its place.
