Linda C. Swanson, 70, passed away peacefully Thursday June 6th, 2019 in her home in Cambridge, WI surrounded by her family after battling pancreatic cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. She was born June 23, 1948 in Rockford, IL; the daughter of Pauline and John R. Cook II. Linda graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1966. She later attended college at UW-La Crosse and graduated from Rockford University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Linda began her teaching career at Rolling Green Elementary School and later, after taking time off to raise her three children, taught at St. Mark Lutheran Church Preschool. On Feb. 12th, 1972 she married Ted Swanson and together they raised three children. Linda was a Charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and WELCA (Women’s Evangelical Church of America). She was a member of the St. Mark Ruth Circle and the St. Mark Women’s softball league. Linda was an avid golfer and loved being active outdoors. She played in the Sandy Hollow 9-hole golf league for many years. She enjoyed snowmobiling, waterskiing, and boating on Lake Ripley. She also enjoyed gardening, biking, socializing with friends and neighbors and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Linda was a lifelong resident of Rockford, IL. until 2017 when her and Ted permanently relocated to the new home they built in the place they love so much, Lake Ripley, in Cambridge, WI. Linda is survived by her husband Ted Swanson; children Meredith, Melissa (Mark Warren), and Michael Swanson; grandchildren Michael James Jr. Swanson and Charleston Warren; siblings John R Cook III (Marcia), David Cook (Jesse Esparza), and Mary Cook; niece Kimberly Cook and nephew Baird Cook. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Agrace Hospice for their love and care, especially Temeka, Sheryl, Megan and Kate.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 675 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford with Reverend Mark Hagen officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to St. Mark Lutheran Church and Agrace Hospice, 5395 E.
