Rain has caused some trouble with scheduling at Madtown BMX, but area riders have had several chances to hit the local track for competition.

The track recently hosted races on June 7 and 8.

On June 18, the track welcomed BMX Race Pro and Kids USA Bike Program Ambassador Justin Posey. He was on hand to ride with athletes for practice, take photos and sign autographs.

June 7

Area riders turned in great performances on June 7.

Derek Klein of DeForest was first in the 12 Expert Division and second in the 11-12 Local Open.

Jordan Mennes was the only other DeForest athlete to win their division. He was first in the 26-35 Novice Division.

DeForest riders Logun Meyer (fourth 11-12 Local Open, third 12 Expert), Elijah Pabon (eighth 11-12 Local Open, third 14 Cruiser), Chandler Pabon (second 9 Intermediate), Cole Abrams (third 11 Intermediate) and Jack Abrams (second 41-45 Intermediate) also turned in top performances.

Jayden Carpenter of Morrisonville was first in the 9 Intermediate Division and seventh in the 11-12 Local Open.

Todd Peiefer of Windsor was the runner-up in the 41-45 Cruiser Division.

Matthew Gulvik of Poynette had an outstanding night. He was first in both the 7-9 Local Open and 9 Expert.


Lodi riders Jace Caves (5 Novice), Guage McConnell (8 Novice) and Byer Caves (12 Novice) all claimed titles in their respective divisions.

Also claiming first on June 7 were Vilas Zuehlke (Columbus, 3 Balance Bike), Diesel Haemmerle (Winneconne, 11 Cruiser), Andrew Mueller (Wisconsin Rapids, 14 Cruiser), Matthew Byrge (Milwaukee, 41-45 Cruiser), Owen Weber (Cottage Grove, 9 Novice), Xavier Garcia (Sauk City, 14 Novice), Brenden Ramirez (Rockford, 8 Intermediate), Bray Kelly (Madison, 11 Intermediate), Julian Basaj (Milwaukee, 41-45 Intermediate), Caid Vita (Sun Prairie, 11 Expert) and Alex Ferguson (Mukwonago, 14 Expert).

June 8

Morrisonville’s Jayden Carpenter led local riders with wins in the 9-10 Local Open and 9 Intermediate Division.

DeForest riders Derek Klein (second 11-12 Local Open, third 14 Expert), Logun Meyer (sixth 11-12 Local Open, second 12 Intermediate), Chandler Pabon (second 9 Intermediate), Cole Abrams (third 11 Intermediate) and Jack Abrams (second 36-40 Intermediate) all placed in the top six.

Windsor riders Zeke Pinchart and Ethan Nesbit finished second in the 7 Novice and third in the 12 Intermediate divisions, respectively.

Matthew Gulvik of Poynette was first in the 7-8 Local Open and third in the 9 Expert.

Lodi’s Guage McConnell came out on top in the 7 Novice Division.

Other division winners included Kloe Ihde (Prairie du Chein, 3 Balance Bike), Julian Basaj (Milwaukee, 11-12 Local Open, 17-20 Intermediate), Blake Baldis (Madison, 11 Cruiser), Matthew Byrge (Milwaukee, 15 Cruiser), Connor Dix (Baraboo, 7 Intermediate), Brenden Ramirez (Rockford, 8 Intermediate), Rowan Linderud (Evansville, 11 Intermediate), Caid Vita (Sun Prairie, 12 Intermediate), Carson Herbert (Las Vegas, 36-40 Intermediate), Reed Byrge (Milwaukee, 9 Expert), Brady Malueg (Waterloo, 10 Expert) and Teagen Treutel (Wisconsin Rapids, 14 Expert).
