DeForest - Delores Rose Motiff, age 87, of DeForest, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Artisan Assisted Living. She was born February 25, 1927 in Madison, the daughter of William and Ottilia (Geier) Kaltenberg. She married Robert Motiff in 1948 and he preceded her in death in February 2004 after 55 years of marriage. Delores was a caregiver much of her life; taking care of her siblings after their mother died; her father in his later years; and raising five children while Bob was on the road for work. Once they purchased their own business, K-M Cooler Service, she worked side by side with Bob. Delores was a very good gardener, and loved working in her flower, vegetable and strawberry gardens. She was also a wonderful seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes and was very crafty. She will be remembered as a spunky lady whose sense of humor kept her family laughing. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren; and could always be counted on.
Lawrence A. “Larry” Ringelstetter, age 92, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
Russel “Russ” Jon Berna, 71, passed away July 12, 2014 in Bloomington, Indiana with his wife Donna of 14 years by his side. Russ was born on July 19, 1942 in Elgin, Illinois to Henry “Hap” Joseph Berna and Marion Elizabeth Liedberg. He spent his younger years stirring up harmless trouble in Burlington, Illinois before graduating from Central High School in 1960. He attended Elgin Community College for one year, prior to starting work at American Breeders Service (ABS). He worked at ABS for over 30 years allowing him to travel the world, and live in several different states. He also had a brief employment with Worldwide Sires. Russ was charismatic, had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses and displayed a great sense of humor and wit. He enjoyed traveling, spending time in the great outdoors, and fishing. He was a remarkable businessman and mentor to many.
Jeanne Knudtsen, 85, of Northwood, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 9 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m. at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center Dining Room Chapel in Northwood.
Marilyn M. Haas, age 79, of Poynette, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at her home in Poynette.
WINDSOR – Dennis “Denny” R. Hron, age 63, of Windsor, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014. He was born on May 14, 1951 in Madison, the son of Eugene J. and Jane E. (Schott) Hron. Denny graduated from LaFollette High school, Class of 1969. He was married to Charlotte Pollock on September 26, 1970 in Madison. She preceded him in death in 2010. Denny served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for many years for Wisconsin Porcelain (Washington Mills) until his retirement in 2013. Dennis was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time up north at the family cabin. He is survived by his son Jeff (Candi) Hron; mother, Jane Hron; brothers, Dan (Jane) and Dale Hron. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends and close friends, Karen Corbett and Greg (Linda) Gardiner. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory in 1994; wife Charlotte in 2010; brother David in 2011; father Eugene in 1998; and close friend James Corbett in 2009.
DeForest – Virginia M. “Ginny” Anderson, age 93, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at The Willows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sun Prairie.
Ricky Howard Johnson was born on Feb. 26, 1964 to Raymond and Patricia Johnson in Shell Lake, Wis. He passed away on May 16, 2014 in Madison, Wis. after a long battle with cystic fibrosis.
WINDSOR - Steven D. Horne, age 47, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014. He was born in Madison on January 18, 1967, the son of Darrell and LaVonne (Esser) Horne. Steve married Jennifer Aschbrenner, on one of the happiest days of his life, on October 14, 2000 at Christ the King Church in McFarland. Steve was a family man, his son Ryan was the center of his life and nothing pleased him more than watching Ryan in all of his sports and school activities. Steve was an avid football fan. He played football growing up at Sacred Hearts, Sun Prairie High School (where he also wrestled) and in college at UW Stout. He coached football at Menomonie High School and officiated football throughout the state. He was an avid fan of the UW-Stout Blue Devils, Badgers, Packers and DeForest Norskies. His Dad was his best friend. They enjoyed golfing together as well watching the Badgers and Packer games and going hunting up north. Steve also supported his nephews during their sporting events and could always be heard cheering in the stands. Steve was proud of to have served his community as a Loaned Executive for the United Way. Steve’s faith was also a very important part of his life. Steve shared many fond memories of high school friends (especially the “Big 8”) and fraternity brothers (FOB’S). He was a child at heart. His bear hugs and laughter will be missed and Christmas will not be the same without “Santa Steve.”

DEFOREST – Jackie L. Zander, age 54, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at UW Hospital in Madison with her loving family by her side. She was born July 8, 1959, in Madison, Wisconsin.

DeForest – Angie Lee Gratz, age 43, of DeForest, died on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at The Willows Care Center in Sun Prairie following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 26, 1970, in Stoughton to Lanny and RaAnne (Chase) Oren.
FOND DU LAC – Wade L. Ellingson passed away Jan. 26, 2014. He was born in Columbus and has relatives in the DeForest Area. A celebration of life will be at noon, Saturday, Feb. 1, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agnesian Hospice Hope or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
DeForest – Valborg “Val” Marcela Kvalheim, age 93, DeForest, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Lodi. She was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Rio, the daughter of Christian and Ingeborg (Olson) Jacobson.

ROCKFORD - Donald E. Rublee, 79, of Rockford, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. He was born Nov. 29, 1933, in DeForest, the son of Emery and Goldie (Skaar) Rublee.

DeForest – Stephen “Steve” C. Ryan, age 60, passed away at home unexpectedly from a cardiac event on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. He was born on May 26, 1953, in Madison, the son of Ivan and Verlee (Klopfenstein) Ryan.

DEFOREST – Molly Manske Phillips, of DeForest, age 57, passed away at UW Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Molly was born on March 1, 1956, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage. She was the daughter of the late Ned and Vera (Quinn) Manske. Molly graduated in 1974 from Westfield High School. After high school, Molly graduated in 1978 from the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

PORTAGE -- Kenneth O. Nehls passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris; and their children, Wayne (Sharon Whitwam) Nehls, Marie Worley, David (Geri) Nehls and Ruth (Larry) Amacher; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace (Melvin) Thorman. Two sisters-in-law, Janet Nehls and Delores Haupt, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. There will be no services for Ken. The family would like to thank Home Health United of Portage and the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home of Portage for their support and assistance.

Lawrence “Larry” J. Heuvelmans, 53, DeForest, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, April 27, 2013. He was having a great day doing what he loved to do, golfing with his sons. He was a special person whose friends and family meant the world to him. His sons, Jacob and Christopher, of whom Larry was extremely proud, were with Larry when he passed.

DeForest – Walter “Walt” Hagey, 74, of DeForest, was born on Aug. 10, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edward Thomas and Eva Dorothy (Krueger) Hagey. He passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 28, 2013, while holding hands with his wife; kids and grandkids at his side.
DEFOREST – Curt Jahn passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, following an 18-month battle with cancer. Curt was born the son of Paul Giering and Margaret Siebecker Giering on May 10, 1943. He was raised by Margaret and Albert Jahn.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Dan Haswell, formerly of DeForest, who passed away on January 26, 2013, in Vancouver, Wash., will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at the DeForest Evangelical Free Church, 501 Country View Drive, DeForest. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the service.
Arthur George Witalison, 86, died April 5, 2013, after succumbing to complications from a stroke. Art was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Juddville, Wis.
Darlyene “Dar” F. (Borgen) Bedker, 85, of Plymouth, went to her heavenly home on March 28, 2013. She was the eldest child and only daughter of Theodore and Rosella (Helbach) Borgen, born on Aug. 13, 1927. She graduated in 1945 from Garfield Senior High School in Fond du Lac.
