DeForest dancers in 'The Nutcracker'

Several DeForest residents/students that will be performing in the Midwest Performing Arts’ ‘The Nutcracker’ on Dec. 7 in Waunakee. A number of DeForest dancers will take part in “The Nutcracker,” presented by Midwest Performing Arts and its cast of 105 dancers ages 5 to adult from the Waunakee, Madison, Middleton, DeForest, Sun Prairie, Cottage Grove, Dane, Lodi, Verona, and Lake Mills communities.

Among those from DeForest participating are: Molly, Hannah and Grace Kuiper; Olivia Ostrowski; Vaira McMahan; Scarlett Bennet; and Brynia Opsahl.

The performances are family-friendly and centered on the youth performers. Professional guest artists who will be joining the cast include Inaside Dance Chicago’s Kanyon Elton as the Nutcracker Prince and Giordano Dance Chicago’s Skylar Newcom as the Mouse King and Arabian male lead.

Performances take place Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Waunakee High School Performing Arts Center, at 301 Community Dr. in Waunakee. Tickets are $16 for children 12 and under and $23 for adults, and they are on sale now at the Midwest Performing Arts website,
