Time for the harvest

Shyann Roundy, Quinton Schnell and Jacob Harmes from Gwen Boettcher's DeForest Area High School Exploring Agriculture class snip lettuce Tuesday, June 4 to be served at lunch. The class participated in a collaborative, small-scale farming program that involved growing tilapia fish in a tank and then using their waste as fertilizer to grow batches of lettuce during the school year. This is the first year of the program, after a trial run in 2017-18.
