Spelling bee

Cadence Klaustermeier (right), an eighth grader at DeForest Area Middle School, won the 2020 DeForest Area School District Spelling Bee. Justin Busch (left), an eighth grader, came in second, and Vaira Mcmahon (middle), a sixth grader, took third. Klaustermeier will advance to compete in the regional spelling bee at Stoughton High School on Feb. 5. McMahan will act as an alternate. There were 85 participants this year from grades 5-8.
