GOP leaders plan to restrict Evers' authority
The State Journal has a story about Speaker Vos and the Majority Leader Fitzgerald planning to radically restrict the incoming new governor's executive authority before he takes office in January. History repeats itself: the GOP did the same thing in North Carolina a few years ago.
Those who vote for these bullies and cheer when their "enemies" are attacked like this need to remember Pastor Niemuller's words: "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
The GOP fancies itself the party of Lincoln. I fear that the man who spoke of "better angels" and “With malice toward none; with charity for all” would not be comfortable in this party that was born in Wisconsin!
