For more than thirty years, the Waunakee Community Band has entertained Waunakee residents and visitors from near and far with their summer concert series. Following the success of the 2016 Waunakee Community Band Festival, again this season, the band’s 34th, they’ve invited four neighboring community bands June 23 to join them for an afternoon of music in the Waunakee High School Performing Arts Center. Each of the five bands will present a half-hour concert culminating with a massed band finale — 250 amateur musicians playing together. Admission is free.

Rocky Rococo will be selling food and refreshments starting at noon.

The Waunakee Community Band, Jan Tweed principal conductor, will kick off the entertainment at 1 p.m.

Participating this year, in addition to the Waunakee Community Band, are:

— Beaver Dam Community Band, Erin Ebersole conductor

— Dual County Community Band, Dan Evans conductor (

— Reedsburg Area Community Band, Scott Bruer, conductor (

— Sun Prairie Area Community Band, Doug Terhune conductor (
