Wisconsin’s very own NEW Piano Guys will make their Dane County debut at the newly renovated Cardinal Heights Theater in Sun Prairie on Friday at 7 p.m.

Two guys, two pianos, and a whole lot of music to enjoy: Peter Hernet and Dan Rafferty promise an interactive, high-energy Dueling Piano show for the whole family.

“The audience is the best part,” said Rafferty. “They request the songs they love. The songs they want to hear. And because every crowd is different, every show is different. It’s a lot of off the cuff stuff based on what the crowd is providing us. It’s lights. It’s fun. It’s energy and it’s comedy.”

Dueling pianos, a wildly popular interactive style of musical entertainment involves two pianos and a pair of players each with their own style and sound. Throughout the show the pianists alternate playing independently and together. The all-ages performance will get you clapping and singing along from beginning to end.

The NEW Guys keep their shows interesting with their ability to play just about anything — Elton John, Michael Jackson, Guns N’ Roses and Taylor Swift. Even TV theme songs and Disney favorites find their way into the show. There isn’t much they can’t play — or at least try to figure out how to play on the spot, which is just as entertaining for them as it is for the audience.

Instead of playing songs in the style they were originally recorded, the duelers like to switch up some lyrics or the tone or pace of a song, which leaves the crowd to wonder what will happen next.

“The songs are still recognizable and catchy,” Hernet said. “But changing it up really keeps the audience on their toes and wanting more.”

“The New Piano Guys are a die-hard duo with a passion for playing piano music,” said reviewer Steven Bornbach. “They are great musicians, performers, and entertainers who give it their all. Their energy and enthusiasm is contagious as they reach out to the audience with their wry humor and humorous shenanigans. They are nothing short of excellence personified, a true treat for all who hear them.”

Experience Dan and Peter performing your favorite songs in a way that only the NEW Piano Guys can deliver.

Tickets, which cost $15 each, are available in advance at www.SPperformingarts.org or by calling 608-834-6848, or at the door one hour prior to curtain at the Cardinal Heights Theater.

The Cardinal Heights Theater is located inside of Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School at 220 Kroncke Drive in Sun Prairie.
