LODI — In a battle between teams tied for second place in the Capitol North, the L-Cats had the upper hand.

Senior guard Matt Johnson scored a game-high 25 points, connecting on seven 3-pointers, as the Lake Mills boys basketball team beat Lodi 57-43 on Tuesday.

Lake Mills (14-3, 4-1 in conference) held Lodi (10-6, 3-2) to 14 second-half points and remained within a game of first-place Columbus, which beat Luther Prep on the road 48-39 despite trailing at halftime.

Junior forward Adam Moen added nine, junior forward Charlie Bender registered seven and junior forward Jaxson Retrum finished with six.

The L-Cats host Luther Prep on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
