PD raises $41K for K9

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department K9 officer Gador is seen at a meet and greet event at Lake Mills Market. The Lake Mills Police Department has raised over $41,000 for it’s K9 fund.

The Lake Mills Police Department announced last week the funds for the department’s new K9 team have been raised.

“I am proud to announce the Lake Mills Police Department has met and exceeded it’s fundraising goals for K-9 Truman,” Police Chief Mick Selck wrote in a Facebook post. “It has been an amazing experience watching the community, and surrounding area, come together to support this great cause in honor of a great man.”

The Lake Mills K9 will be named in honor of the late Lake Mills Fire Captain Christopher Truman.

The department was able to raise just over $41,000 in cash and supplies

“We are planing on starting to visit kennels in June and July to find the right dog and trainer,” he went on to say.

Equipment purchases have already begun the department says.

“I am hoping to have a dog on the road this fall, but that may be optimistic. I must thank Jefferson County Sheriff for all their guidance and support through this process. They have provided K9 Gader and his human, Deputy Jansen, at many events and have been a great partner in this endeavor,” Selck wrote.
