Jefferson County is embarking on a process to update the county’s Comprehensive Plan to guide future development and policy level decisions. The plan will set a vision, goals and policies, that can be used to inform decisions about what county leaders should support, encourage and enhance. A complementary Agricultural Preservation and Land Use Plan will be developed as well.

The input will help shape the plan’s vision, ultimately helping to shape a vibrant future for the county.

The Comprehensive Plan and Agricultural Preservation and Land Use Plan are built from community input. A survey has been developed to gain initial feedback about the desired future for Jefferson County.

To provide input, visit:

Hard copies of the survey are available at local libraries and the Jefferson County Courthouse, 311 S. Center Ave, Rm 201, Jefferson, WI 53549. Completed surveys should be returned by July 19 to the local library or the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Department.

Public meetings will be held in the area on Thursday, July 11, Lake Mills Municipal Building, 200 N. Water Street, Lake Mills. The public is invited to attend open house meetings to discuss the updates to the plan.
