Nostalgia hits at the most unusual times in our lives. I attended my first Brew with a View at Korth Park last night. It was a beautiful warm May evening and the park was filled with families surrounded by the natural beauty so abundant in our community. Children of all ages were on the playground, music was playing, and folks were sitting and visiting, while some were simply mesmerized by the lake. So…what nostalgia? It reminded me of picnics and gatherings of the families that also attended the one-room-country school of my childhood. As much as life has changed…it has stayed the same.

Joan Johnson was able to stump us again with her collection of ‘mystery antiques’. She also offered the research found behind the items that she brought, oftentimes searching way beyond the information (often incorrect) listed on the tag at the antique store. She will bring a new collection this fall…don’t miss it!

I received a call from the Bank of Lake Mills saying that they would like to make a donation to Club 55 in honor of Ty Neupert’s 55th birthday. Thanks for thinking of us, and now the rest of you know how old he is!

Club 55 was started as a gathering space for older adults. Most neighboring communities have had senior centers in place for many years and offer wonderful and meaningful activities. That has been our goal and enjoyed by all that participate each week. We have had a great partnership with the Lake Mills Recreation Department offering support, ideas, and day trips. Stay tuned for more news about changes and offerings that may interest more of you baby-boomers and those of you who have not stopped in to check us out!
