Battle for the ball

Lodi’s Alayna Rosga (19) battles for a ball against Lakeside Lutheran.

The Lodi girls soccer team continued its unblemished start to the season with a 4-0 shutout of visiting Lakeside Lutheran on April 16.

The win moved the Blue Devils to 2-0 in the Capitol Conference. They are tied with Sugar River for first place.

Overall, the Lady Blue Devils are off to a 3-0-1 start to the spring.

It didn’t take Lodi long to get on the scoreboard. Grasyn Schmidt scored for the Blue Devils three minutes into the game. Grace Maerz had the assist.

The Lady Blue Devils went up 2-0 11 minutes later with a goal by Alayna Rosga. Schmidt earned the assist.

Just like at the start of the game, Lodi struck early in the second half. Rosga scored her second goal three minutes in. Schmidt had her second assist.

Thea Collins closed out the scoring at the 66-minute mark with an unassisted goal.

Blue Devil goalie Rylee Schmidt needed just one save to preserve the shutout.

The Lady Blue Devils will be back at home tonight. They will host 6:45p.m.

Lodi will make a trip to Mauston for a 7 p.m. non-conference game on April 29 before returning home the following night to host Lake Mills at 6:45 p.m.
