The Lodi prep baseball team had a rough week. The Blue Devils dropped a Capitol Conference crossover game to Wisconsin Heights and a Capitol North doubleheader with Columbus.

Host Wisconsin Heights handed the Blue Devils a 9-4 loss on May 14.

On May 16, host Columbus edged Lodi 11-10 in the first game and 6-1 in the second.

The Blue Devils are now 8-12 overall and 5-5 in the Capitol North. They finished tied with Columbus for third place behind Lake Mills (10-0) and Luther Prep (6-3).

Lodi has earned the sixth seed in their WIAA Division 2 regional and will play at third-seeded Portage at 5 p.m. tonight. The winner will play either second-seeded Adams-Friendship or seventh-seeded Mauston on May 28.

The Blue Devils held two leads in the game. The first came after Lodi scored a run in the top of the first inning.

Wisconsin Heights answered with two runs in the bottom of the first.

Lodi tied the game in the top of the third inning.

Trailing 3-2, the Blue Devils took their second lead with two runs in the top of the sixth frame.

The Vanguards put Lodi away with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth.

Carson Richter went 3-for-4 to lead Lodi at the plate, while Finn Melchior and Connor Faust both had two hits.

Gavin Burke pitched the first five innings for the Blue Devils and had five strikeouts and a walk. Logan Lauterbach had two strikeouts and a walk in one inning of relief.
