The Lodi boys golf team wrapped up a top-three finish in the Capitol Conference after placing third at the conference tournament at the Oaks Golf Course on May 15.

The Blue Devils finished with a team score of 349 to finish third behind Cambridge (316) and Columbus (326).

Cambridge also claimed the overall Capitol crown with 12 points, followed by Columbus (13), Lodi (29), New Glarus (35), Lakeside Lutheran (36), Lake Mills (49), Belleville-Monticello (50), Watertown Luther Prep (64) and Wisconsin Heights (72).

Jackson Furniss continued his great season by leading the Blue Devils with a 78, which put him in a tie for fifth place.

The effort by Furniss helped him earn second-team all-conference for the season.

Collin West was Lodi’s second best golfer with an 87.

Haley Thoeny and Shane Ness both shot a 92 to close out the team score for Lodi.

Bailey Clark shot a 94 for the Blue Devils.

Columbus’ Austin Lietha led all golfers at the conference tournament with a 72.

The Blue Devils took part in the WIAA Division 2 Adams-Friendship Regional earlier this week and a recap will be in next week’s paper. Prairie du Chien will host the sectional on May 28.

Memorial Invite

To get ready for the Capitol Tournament, the Blue Devils took part in the Madison Memorial Spartan Invite on May 13.

Lodi finished in 10th place with a 364.

Middleton claimed the team title with a 304, followed in the top five by Waunakee (316), Verona (335), Sun Prairie (341) and DeForest (346).

Thoeny led the way for Lodi with an 87.

West finished with an 89, while Peyton Breunig and Furniss both shot a 94 to round out the team score.

Ness came away with a 97, but it did not factor into the team score.
