Graysn Schmidt led Lodi’s offense this spring with a team-high 26 points.

It would take some work, but the Lodi girls soccer team kept its streak of winnings alive this spring. The Blue Devils made it eight straight seasons with a winning mark after going 8-7-5.

The Lady Blue Devils have not had a losing season since going 10-11-1 in 2011.

Lodi did have its streak of top-two finishes in the Capitol Conference come to an end at seven after going 2-2-3 to place fifth.

Sugar River claimed the Capitol crown with a 7-0 record, followed by Lake Mills (4-1-2), Watertown Luther Prep (4-2-1), Wisconsin Heights (3-1-3), Lodi, Columbus (2-4-1), Cambridge (1-6) and Lakeside Lutheran (0-7).

The Blue Devils had a great start to the 2019 season after going 3-0-1 in the first four games.

The Lady Blue Devils won their first two conference games over Cambridge and Lakeside Lutheran by a combined score of 9-0.

The Lady Blue Devils earned a spot in the WIAA Division 3 regional finals after knocking off Edgerton 7-2 in the opening round of the playoffs.

Lodi would have its season come to an end one game later with an 8-1 loss to Edgewood.

The Blue Devils were led by Graysn Schmidt. She finished the season with a team-high 26 points, which included 10 goals and six assists.

Alayna Rosga matched Schmidt with 10 goals and added three assists.

Alana Gilles was the only other Blue Devil to tally over 20 points. She came away with seven goals and a team-high eight assists.

Also having solid offensive seasons for Lodi were Grace Maerz (five goals, four assists), Kendra Tippery (four goals, one assist) and Mackenzie Fulkerson (four goals).

Rylee Schmidt had a great season in goal for the Lady Blue Devils. In 19 games, she came away with 77 saves and a .664 save percentage. She registered seven shutouts.

The Blue Devils will have some holes to fill next season with the graduation of a strong season class, which included Rylee Schmidt, Fulkerson, Sarah Lindloff, Gilles and Kaelyn Kruchten.

However, with their top-two point leaders returning, the Lady Blue Devils will have enough firepower to continue the program’s winning streak.
