Jackson Furniss was the lone Lodi golfer to earn All-Capitol Conference honors after leading the Blue Devils to a third-place finish.
Lodi finished with 29 points for the season to place third behind Cambridge (12) and Columbus (13). New Glarus (35), Lakeside Lutheran (36), Lake Mills (49), Monticello-Belleville (50), Luther Prep (64) and Wisconsin Heights (72).
Lakeside Lutheran’s Lukas Heckmann highlighted the first-team list. He was named the Player of the Year.
The final spots on the first team went to Columbus’ duo of Austin Leitha and Adam Zahn and Cambridge’s tandem of Drew Jeffrey and Ryan Janson.
Furniss was named to the second team. It is his first all-conference recognition.
Monticello-Belleville’s Peter Gustafson, Lake Mills’ duo of Harper Untz and Sam Anhalt and New Glarus’ Matt Hach filled out the second team.
Furniss was also recently named Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Academic All-State.
The criteria for earning Academic All-State includes having a cumulative grade point average of 3.25, participate in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches, they are a sophomore, junior or senior and they are a student athlete who has served as a great example to others proving that athletic and academic success are not mutually exclusive.
The GCAW honored 401 students from 125 high schools. They had an average GPA of 3.747.
