The Lodi prep softball team had a tough ending to the regular season last week.
In their Capitol North Conference finale on May 14, the Blue Devils fell 18-6 to visiting Lakeside Lutheran.
The Lady Blue Devils dropped their final five games of the regular season to finish with a 6-15 record.
Lodi finished sixth in the Capitol North with a 1-9 mark.
Poynette repeated as conference champion with a 10-0 record.
After a scoreless first inning, Lakeside Lutheran jumped on Lodi for four runs in the top of the second inning.
Lodi scored a run on a sacrifice fly by Katie Stoltenberg in the bottom half of the second.
Trailing 5-1, the Blue Devils scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Stoltenberg drove in the first run with a double and later scored on an error.
Both teams plated a run in the fifth inning. Lodi got an RBI sacrifice fly from Katie Breunig.
Already leading 7-4, Lakeside Lutheran put the finishing touches on the win with an 11-run explosion in the top of the seventh inning.
Lodi picked up a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. Both runs scored on an error.
Jayden Kolinski and Dylann Harrington led the Blue Devils with two hits apiece.
Kolinski, Emma Krumpen and Adrianna Lee all pitched for Lodi. They combined for four strikeouts and seven walks.
Olivia Krieser, Emma Berg and Kendra Blake all had three hits for the Warriors, while Nora Statz, Kylee Gnabasik, Grace Thomas and Emily Becker chipped in two each.
Gnabasik pitched all seven innings for Lakeside and had three strikeouts and two walks.
The Lady Blue Devils are the sixth seed in the WIAA Division 2 playoffs and played at third-seeded McFarland in a regional semifinal this past Tuesday. A recap will be in next week’s paper.
The regional semifinal winner will play eight second-seeded Edgewood or seventh-seeded Reedsburg tonight.
