The Lodi girls soccer team had its WIAA Division 3 postseason run come to an end with an 8-1 loss to Madison Edgewood in a regional final last Saturday.
The Blue Devils earned a spot in the regional final after knocking off visiting Edgerton 7-2 in the semifinals on May 30.
The Lady Blue Devils finished the 2019 campaign with an overall record of 8-7-5.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and cruised to the playoff opening win.
It took Lodi just four minutes to get on the scoreboard with a goal by Grasyn Schmidt.
The lead grew to 2-0 with a goal by Alayna Rosga at the 16-minute mark.
The Lady Blue Devils increased the margin to 3-0 with a goal by Grace Maerz. Gilles assisted on the goal.
Lodi opened the second half with a goal by Rosga two minutes in.
Edgerton jumped back in the game with goals by Holly Gould and Spencer Stamm
However, Lodi closed the game with three unanswered goals to pull away.
The Blue Devils all but ended the game after back-to-back goals by Kendra Tippery at the 64 and 68-minute marks. Gilles assisted on both goals.
Gilles closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal with 15 minutes remaining.
Blue Devil goalie Rylee Schmidt finished with eight saves.
Edgewood scored the final six goals of the game to cruise past the Lady Blue Devils.
The Crusaders opened the game with goals by Hailey Rothwell and Ellie Trudgeon in the first eight minutes.
Lodi cut the deficit in half with a goal by Fulkerson at the 14-minute mark. Gilles earned the assist.
Trudgeon, Sarah Johnson and Jordyn Rothwell each had a goal to close out the first half.
Trudgeon increased the lead to 6-1 with a goal two minutes into the second half.
The Crusaders closed out their scoring with goals by Hailey Rothwell and Lizzie Drake.
Rylee Schmidt finished the game with nine saves.
