The Lodi and Poynette wrestling teams are still picking up accolades after a great winter season. Both squads had athletes named Academic All-State by WiWreslting.com.
The Blue Devils had six wrestlers recognized, while the Pumas had five honored.
Poynette freshman Cash Stewart was the only area athlete to earn first-team honors. He was 39-3 and placed fourth at state.
Lodi freshmen Parker Heintz and Chandler Curtis were both named to the second team. Heintz, a state qualifier, finished the year 31-10, while Curtis was 37-11.
Puma senior Blake Shallow was named to the second team after going 31-6.
The Blue Devils’ duo of Garrett Moll and Jaedon Heintz earned honorable mention for seniors. Moss placed fifth at state and had a 42-7 record, while Heintz was 16-6.
Poynette seniors Justin Taylor and Levi Walz also were honorable mention picks. Taylor finished the year 27-10, while Walz was 19-11.
Lodi juniors Colton Nicolay and Zach Potter both earned second team honors. Nicolay, a state qualifier, was 30-11, while Potter finished 24-10.
Poynette junior Gwen Golueke was an honorable mention selection. She completed the year with an 18-10 mark.
The academic all-state list is compiled using a formula that adds an athlete’s grade point average, total wins and place at state.
