LODI- Remedios “Remy” de la Paz Lirios passed away on April 25, 2015 at Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital in Greenhills, Philippines. She was born on March 31, 1928 in Guagua, Pampanga, Philippines the daughter of Fabian and Irene (Songco) de la Paz. Remy was married to Secundino “Dino” F. Lirios on Sept. 8, 1954. Remy worked as a Certified Public Accountant at the Philippine National Bank until she retired. She was an avid Scrabble player and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was a former Scrabble champion at the bank she worked at. If you ask anyone who knew Remy, she will be described as friendly, sociable, happy, upbeat and youthful. She had a great business sense. She put herself through college with small business ventures and part-time work. Remy was a woman of faith. Everyone who needed special prayers went to her. She could be seen with her prayer books and rosary praying most of the day. Best of all, she will always be remembered as a loving and generous mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Nicky (Bona) Lirios, Irene (Scott) Geske, Cherie (Jerry) Hurley and Vinchy (Elisha) Lirios; her grandchildren Kenny, Regina, Dino, Aileen, Stephanie, Bradley, Ian, Monica, Marsha and Misha. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dino, her son Joseph Benjamin, her parents, brother, Ernesto de la Paz, sister, Leonida Hernandez. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 521 Fair St. Lodi with Rev. Fr. Chad M. Droessler presiding. Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Lodi. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at church. Memorials may be made in Remy’s name to Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish.
LODI-Mary C. (O’Connell) Lee, age 81, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Mary was born on Sept. 13, 1933, in the Town of Vermont, Wis., to James and Margaretta (Powers) O’Connell. She married Robert (Bob) Lee on July 11, 1953 and together they raised four daughters in Lodi, Wis. While raised in the small town of Mazomanie, after marrying Bob, she found herself quickly adapting to life on a farm and spent the rest of her active life helping him on the family farm. Mary enjoyed roller skating, dancing, gardening, reading, classic country music and crossword puzzles. Above all else, she loved her family and found great joy in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Karen (Bill Molkenthen) Lee-Molkenthen, Diane Lee (friend Bob Lang), Judy (Jim Richerson) Lee and Grace (Steve Beaverson) Lee; grandchildren, Ted Pertzborn, Rob (Heather) Pertzborn, Adrian (Andrea) Mitchell, Chad (Kristy Stevelt) Mitchell, Melissa (John Marshall) Mitchell, Austin Lee-Richerson, Zak Lee-Richerson, Megan Robson, Carissa Beaverson and Amanda Beaverson; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Ethan, Kaelyn, Ryan, Nathan, Dylan, Blake, Kylee and Connor; brother, John (Olive) O’Connell; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Shirley) Lee, Roger (Rosemary) Lee, and Donald Petersen; sisters-in-law, Lois O’Connell, Deanna O’Connell, Janice (Ken) Dixon, and Alice Padley along with several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe and James; great-granddaughter, Haley Stevelt Mitchell and sister-in-law, Rose Petersen. A funeral service will be held at Hamre Gunderson Funeral and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main St., Lodi at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Lodi – Diane M. Leatherberry, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015. She was born on March 3, 1950, to Leo and Leona LaMere. She married her soulmate, Gary, on Sept. 12, 1970. More than anything, Diane cherished her time with those she loved. Along with Gary, she is loved by her children, Deb (Bob) Volk, Ang (John) Griffing, Tom (Jen) Leatherberry; and grandchildren, Rob, Jared, Anna, Abby, Emily, Lily, Sarah, Samantha and Sawyer. Diane is also deeply loved by her brothers Ed (Carol) LaMere and Tom (Hannah) LaMere.
Merle E. Knuteson, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on April 24, 1923 near Lodi Wis., the son of Nels and Janetta (Johnson) Knuteson. Of his siblings, he is survived by Marion Wicks, Margret Anne (Marvin) Jameson, Don (Lorraine) Knuteson, and Marlene (Don) Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez, his parents, and three brothers; Kenneth (Delila) Knuteson, Llewellyn (LaVilla) Knuteson, and Richard Knuteson.
LODI-Audrey A. Capper, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Lodi Good Samaritan Society. She was born on Aug. 24, 1924 in Norwalk, Wis., the daughter of John and Arlene (Bell) Summerfield. She was united in marriage to Calvin W. Capper on Nov. 1, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1999. Audrey was a member of First Lutheran Church. She had a variety of interests which included collecting postage stamps, spoons from the places she traveled, tending her gardens and caring for her indoor flowers and plants, but truly treasured most the time she spent with her family.
