The Lodi Police Blotter is comprised of information provided by the Lodi Police Department. Individuals named in the police blotter are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in court.

• Aug. 20 5:49 a.m. – Lodi Police stopped a vehicle on the 900 block of N. Main Street at County Highway. J. Anthony A. Meinking, 44, city of Lodi, was cited for speeding, 15 over the speed limit.

• Aug. 21 10:55 a.m. – Lodi Police responded to a traffic accident on Mill Street at Downey Street. A male subject, 44, Portage, operating a truck for Columbia County Solid Waste, was turning left on to Mill Street when he failed to see a parked unattended car on Mill Street. The truck struck the vehicle on the driver’s side, ripping the door off and causing damage to the entire driver’s side. The vehicle was towed by a local towing service. Damage estimates were not known.

• Aug. 23 2:49 p.m. – Vehicle stop on Portage Street at Main Street. A female subject, 40, Merrimac, received a 10-day citation for non-registration of her vehicle.

• Aug. 23 5:49 p.m. – Lodi Police responded to a traffic accident on the 100 block of Columbus Street. A vehicle operated by Eric A. Strohm, 31, Merrimac, was traveling east on Columbus Street. Strohm attempted to take a left-hand turn into a business parking lot when he saw a friend and waved at him. Another vehicle, operated by a male, 48, Arlington, pulled out from curb. Strohm collided head-on with the other vehicle. Strohm’s vehicle sustained damage in the middle of the vehicle’s front. The other vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side. Strohm was cited for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.

• Aug. 23 6:13 p.m. – Lodi Police stopped a vehicle on Portage Street at Main Street. Patricia M. Rea, 29, city of Lodi, was stopped for expired registration. Rea was cited for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance and advised to get a current registration sticker.

• Aug. 24 9:20 am. – Lodi Police stopped a vehicle on Corner Street at Elm Street. Donald A. Gasser, 85, town of West Point, was cited for speeding, 15 over the speed limit.

• Aug. 24 2:24 p.m. – Lodi Police responded to illegal disposal of solid waste on the 100 block of Water Street. Jeffery R. Bothun, 45, city of Lodi, dropped off a TV set, lawn mower and small table from his vehicle, leaving the items by several recycling bins. Bothun was issued a municipal citation for illegal disposal of solid waste on public property.

• Aug. 24 6:58 p.m. – Vehicle stop on Corner Street at Bellin Street. Lindsay J. Knipfer, 27, Madison, was cited for speeding, 17 over the speed limit.

• Aug. 24 10:39 pm. – Vehicle stop on North Main Street at Gay Street. A male subject, city of Lodi, 19, received a written equipment repair warning for operating a vehicle without stopping lights.

• Aug. 25 1:30 p.m. – 6:55 p.m., Aug. 26 7:30 a.m. – Lodi Police received numerous reports of theft from unlocked vehicles on Seminary Street at Second Avenue. Stolen items included money, a daily planner with personal information, a GPS, CDs and an auxiliary cord. The case is still under investigation. Lodi Police encourage residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times. If any items from vehicles are missing, notify the police department.

• Aug. 25 5:24 p.m. – Lodi Police stopped a vehicle on Corner Street at Bellin Street. Wendi L. Weger, 39, Los Angeles, was cited for speeding, 22 over the speed limit.

• Aug. 26 12:18 a.m. – Lodi Police stopped a vehicle on Portage Street at S. Main Street. Thomas J. Schwartz, 57, city of Lodi, was stopped for defective brake lights and cited for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance.
