Lodi’s Future Farmers of America chapter invited elementary school students to a dairy farm for two events on Wednesday, May 8. Day on the Farm was hosted for 150 Madison area third and fourth grade students, and Ag Products Day was hosted for 100 Lodi fourth graders. Students were separated into groups and toured through different stations. Madison students visited 14 stations that talked about life on a farm, including topics like different farm animals and equipment. Lodi students stopped at 12 stations to discuss the more technical aspects of farming, like hydroponics and animal nutrition. Seeing all the students so excited to be on a farm and learn about agriculture is what made the months of planning worth it, Lodi FFA president Abbey Ryan said. This was Lodi FFA’s third year organizing Ag Products Day and second year with Day on the Farm. Both events were hosted at John and Julie Haag’s dairy farm.
