Despite the Monona Grove/McFarland wrestling co-op’s eighth-place finish at Saturday’s Reedsburg duals, there was some good news involving 170-pound Tysen White and 152-pound Zach Gunderson. White earned five victories for the day, including two by falls. He pinned Lancaster’s Morgan Sieppel at 1:36 and took a win with a fall at 3:30 against McCoy Koch of Riverdale. White also won a 5-3 decision against Jeremiah Nagel of La Crosse Logan and won via forfeit in two other matches to complete his undefeated day.
Gunderson won with a pin against Jordan Keegan of Riverdale in 36 seconds, and won major decision victories against Dallas Kapnake of La Crosse Logan and Clay McCartney of Lancaster.
He won another match through forfeit, but lost a 12-4 major decision to Devan Alt of River Valley.
In other weight classes, 106-pound Evan Rettkowski topped Oregon’s Faith Trinidad in an 18-3 technical fall and took a 5-1 decision against Kailix Roe of La Crosse Logan. He won another match by forfeit but lost two others in a pin and decision.
At 113-pounds, Cole Weaver took three wins, one, a 7-3 decision over Owen Yoose of Lancaster, a second in a fall at 1:26 against Donavin Wylie of La Crosse Logan and a third, via forfeit. Weaver lost two other matches in a decision and major decision.
At 138 pounds, MGM’s Jonathon Schlaefer pinned Noah Moline in 23 seconds, but lost three other matches via fall, technical fall and major decision.
Jedidiah Strait won his 182-pound match by pinning Jacob Grimm of Riverdale in 1:08, but dropped four other matches in falls.
Connor Frasier at 195-pounds took an 11-5 decision over Austin Sather of La Crosse Logan and earned two wins via forfeit. He was defeated in two other matches via pin.
MGM’s 220-pound competitor, Guenter Switzer, took one match via forfeit, but was pinned in four others.
Kristian Schlicht won two matches with pins at 285-pounds as he took out Ben Muhr of River Valley at 2:53 and Dawson Wilmot of Riverdale at 5:44. He won via forfeit in another match, but was pinned two other times.
Monona Grove/McFarland competes in an invitational Saturday at Waunakee with events scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Monona Grove/McFarland won two matches via pin, but couldn’t do better against Milton on Nov. 29 at Indian Mound Middle School.
Gunderson won his 152-pound match in a fall over the Red Hawks Kade Desormeau in 1:22.
White took victory in the 170-pound bout as he pinned Drake Williams in 1:20. Schlicht earned a win at 285-pounds via forfeit.
Four other MGM wrestlers lost via fall, and two were defeated in decisions.
