As one of many sports for Milton to only start the season Tuesday, the boys golf team took fourth out of an eight team invite at the Foxboro Golf Club in Oregon. The Red Hawks shot 349, while Edgewood topped the invite with a team score of 330. Monona Grove shot a 341 for second, while hosts Oregon finished with a 343 to take third.
AJ Gray led the Red Hawks, scoring an 80 round, going 37 on the front nine and 43 on the back.
Gray had three bogeys and two birdies on the front nine compared to a bogey and three double-bogeys on the back nine.
Tucker Dunk had a round of 85, 44 on the front and 41 on the back. Dunk birdied one hole, but either bogeyed or double-bogeyed on six holes on the front. On the back nine, Dunk made par three holes and bogeyed two and doubled two.
Shooting a 91, Ryan Nelson shot 44 on the front nine and 47 on the back. Throughout the front and back, Nelson birdied one hole and shot over on 13 holes.
Michael Koppa held the highlight of the day, earning the only hole-in-one on the day from the 40-player field, achieving the shot on the fourth hole on his way to a round of 93, 42 on the front and 51 on the back.
Elliot Christianson rounded out the Red Hawks, shooting a 113, going 58 on the front and 55 on the back.
The Red Hawks play a varsity invitational Thursday morning at 8 a.m. at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove.
