Six hours can make a big difference.

Approximately around noon on Tuesday, the Red Hawks were celebrating their 4-3 walk-off win over Janesville Parker in the Oconomowoc sectional semifinal.

A some six hours later, Milton’s season came to an end, falling to Hamilton, 6-3, in the sectional final with a state-tournament berth on the line.

The Red Hawks battled back from a 3-0 deficit against Janesville Parker in the first game.

Milton scored four runs in the final three innings. Freshman Keegan Knutson scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh off a wild pitch.

The script was flipped in the second game against Hamilton.

The Red Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Hamilton stormed back.

Hamilton tied the game at 3-3 after five innings, but plated three runs in the bottom of the six to take control of contest.

Milton went down in order at the top of the seventh to end the game.

The Red Hawks captured their first ever share of the Badger South Conference title this season and were a game away from reaching the state tournament.

A full recap of both games, as well as interviews and more photos will be in the June 13 edition of the Milton Courier.
