Coach Deasy

Dick Deasy came to Milton College in 1970 to succeed Red Oberbruner as head coach of the men’s basketball and baseball teams. Deasy also served as golf coach at the college. Deasy’s basketball team won the 1973-74 Gateway Conference championship and his baseball teams won four conference crowns. Deasy was named the Gateway Conference basketball coach of the year in 1974, the same year he and was named the NAIA District 14 baseball coach of the year. In 1978, Deasy became the athletic director at Milton College. Deasy was named to the Milton College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984, two years after the college closed. Deasy is pictured here coaching his Wildcats during a 1972 game at the Dunn Athletic Center.
