Sheila Suzanne “Sue” Carlson, 77, died April 9, 2015, in Mountain View, AR., after a long illness. She was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Madison, WI, to the late Kathryn and Everett Decker of Milton. After graduating from high school she enrolled at Michael Reese, Chicago, where she earned her certificate as an x-ray technician. She spent many years in the medical profession and became active in the Wisconsin chapter of A.A.M.A., and was elected president in 1981-82. She earned many awards through the years, lecturing at various colleges in Wisconsin.

Larry Lee Schroeder, 68, of Milton, died at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. He was born on April 7, 1946 in Shawano, WI, the son of Marvin and Virginia (Wruck) Schroeder. Larry would marry Candace deVeau on June 4, 1966 in Whitewater, WI. Larry owned his own CPA business in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, IL for 25 years after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He had a love of boats and owned one before he even had a driver’s license. His mother had to transport it to the water.

Marsha A. Brenneman, 79, of Janesville died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc., Fitchburg. She was born in Janesville on March 13, 1936, the daughter of Delmar and Alice (Lenz) Reid. She married Mearl E. Brenneman in Dubuque, IA on June 12, 1954, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2012. Marsha had been an Avon Lady for over 30 years, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Milton. She was a mall walker, loved being with her family, enjoyed reading, old movies, old TV shows, and loved Ruckus, her little Prince.

Orpha Boehm, 79

Orpha Mae Boehm, age 79, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. She was born to Oscar and Olga Johnson on February 23, 1936 in rural Wisconsin. Orpha graduated from Milton High School, in Milton, Wisconsin. Early work life included car hop work at an A&W Root Beer stand, Parker Pen and the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Department. In 1956, Orpha married the love of her life Clifford Boehm. In 1973 they moved to Loveland, Colorado. Orpha worked for many years as a secretary at Titan Homes, which later became Summit Crest Homes. Many of the mostly male workforce referred to her as Mom. In addition to raising their four children, she was an active member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Loveland where she sang in the choir and volunteered in the church office for many years.

Fred W. Berger, age 94, of Janesville, died Friday March 27, 2015 at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville. He was born Nov. 19, 1920 in Fennimore, WI, the son of Elmer E. and Mae Helena (Wiedmann) Berger. Fred married Rose Eileen Lasse on March 18, 1946 in Janesvillle, WI. He was a 1938 graduate of Janesville High School and was employed for 43 years at the Burdick Corporation in Milton, retiring in 1983. He and Rose spent 14 years of their retirement in Eustis, Florida before returning to Wisconsin. He served three years as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, both stateside and in the Philippines, working maintenance on B-24 and B-29 airplanes, and in Tokyo after the war. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton, serving many years as a trustee and was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters as financial secretary for many years. Fred was an avid golfer and was proud of his hole-in-one, something his children have yet to accomplish! He bowled in leagues for many years. He and his wife Rose enjoyed square dancing for over 20 years with the Milton Squares and 14 years with Florida clubs, traveling often to national conventions.

Lois Jean Godfrey, 86, passed peacefully on March 4, 2015, at Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Janesville. Lois was born in Janesville in 1928 to Willard and Inez Davey. She attended the old Janesville High School and worked at Parker Pen before marrying Frank Godfrey on August 14, 1948. They farmed on Tarrant Road, Milton, until 1976 when they moved to Janesville. Lois loved square dancing, bowling, growing flowers, quilting and all forms of needlework, but in her later years she most enjoyed her role as a super-grandma and great-grandma. She was known by her friends, family and especially her many close pals at Wesley Apartments for her huge and varied collection of frog figurines.

Clarence Albert Vierck, 91, of King, WI/formerly of Milton, WI, passed away on March 1, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI.  Mr. Vierck was born in Johnstown, the son of Henry and “Minta” (Tess) Vierck. Clarence was a long time resident of the Milton area. He entered the US Navy on Jan. 6, 1942 and served on the island of Banika in the Russell Island Group. He was discharged from the Navy on Oct. 10, 1945. On July 27, 1946 he married Hope Hudson and they had seven children: Raymond of Durango, CO, Carole Miller of Milton, Lorraine (Brian) Mass of Baraboo, WI, David of Milton, Karen (Keith) Moen of Janesville, WI, Dawn Bradshaw of Milton, and Wayne of Edgerton. He had 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Vierck was employed by Liberty Trucking, The Burdick Corporation, Hufcor, and McFarland Pheasant Farm.  He also served his community as a part-time Police Officer and EMT.

Phyllis was born on March 7, 1928 at home in Indianapolis, Indiana to Earl and Luella (Bechert) Durbin. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and had a great interest in genealogy, puzzles, and sudokus. Phyllis loved to travel and visited all 50 states, seven Canadian Provinces and 19 Countries. She lived with her daughter, Jenny Hallett, in Milton for the last three years.

He was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Milton, Wis., the son of the late Carl and Edna (Hilker) Thoms. After school Robert joined the Army in 1950. He was honorably discharged in 1952 as a sergeant. Robert married Marian Russell on Dec. 6, 1952 in Janesville.

Allen F. Brown, 80, of Milton, died unexpectedly Jan. 7, 2015 in a tragic car accident. Allen was born in Chicago, IL, to the late Frank and Rose (Straka) Brown on July 9, 1934. Allen worked in the insurance field for many years, working his way up to vice president of his company. On Oct. 23, 1954, Allen married Virginia Freed in Downers Grove, IL. Virginia and Allen spent 60 wonderful years together, doing everything together. He was very proud of this as his license plate “60 YRS” displayed. He loved hunting and fishing, going to Canada fishing for 58 years and taking Virginia for 40 years. He was a member of Milton United Methodist Church, and was extremely active at The Gathering Place.

Clayton Thomas Wilson Sr., 78, of Janesville, WI passed away at Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 surrounded by his family. Clayton was born on Dec. 29, 1936 in Richland County, WI, the son of Leonard and Violet (Sherman) Wilson. He served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and married Beverly Ann Holloway on June 17, 1956. Clayton was employed for 42 years by General Motors in Janesville. He formerly attended Faith Community Church, was a former member of the Milton V.F.W. and was a member of U.A.W. Local # 95 Retirees. He was an avid Packer and Brewers fan. Clayton enjoyed to hunt and fish, but above all else  his happiest times were spending time with family, especially his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Wilson.

She was born in Nacogdoches, TX, on Jan. 16, 1944, the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Phillips) Weber. Anita was raised in California and following graduation from high school in El Monte she moved to Janesville. She was employed by Boston Store in the Janesville Mall selling cosmetics for Estee’ Lauder for over 27 years before retiring four years ago. Anita attended St. William Catholic Church. She was very devoted to her friends, family, beloved dog, Zorro as well as loved listening to Neil Diamond.

Robert William (Skip) Townsend, 86

Robert William (Skip) Townsend, 86, of Milton, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.  He was born in Portage, Wisconsin on Sept. 29, 1928, to Fredrick and Florence (Wanderer) Townsend.  He graduated from Portage High School with the class of 1947.  He excelled on the boxing team and was undefeated for three years.  He married Donna Klavon Gray on Oct. 9, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Portage, WI. Together they established the Carpet Mart Inc. in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1966.  They worked side-by-side until Bob’s health forced him to retire. His sons then took over the business. Bob was a hard worker and enjoyed the carpet business. Bob was a member of Faith Lutheran for over 45 years. He was a former member of the Noon Lion’s Club, Kiwanis Club, and the South Side Business Association. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. One of the things he enjoyed most was spending time at his cottage at Wood Lake with all of his family members around him.

Our hearts are empty as we have lost our husband, father and friend. Larry had a way that touched many in the most unique way with his crazy, witty, gruff sense of humor. Gone way too soon, but no doubt left a legacy of compassion, unconditional love and generosity. Larry was a true inspiration to those he touched; we will miss him in body but will always have him in spirit.

Marguerite Esther Brewer, 96, of Milton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at the Edgerton Care Center. She was born on March 5, 1918, in Waukesha, WI, daughter of the late Edward and Esther (Brahmer) Molitor. She was united in marriage on June 28, 1941, to Charles L. Brewer. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2006. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Edgerton. Marguerite had worked for Gibbs Manufacturing in Janesville. She enjoyed reading, her flowers, crossword puzzles, ceramics and playing bingo. She had taught bible studies, was a member of the ladies aid and a past member of Evansville Eastern Star.

Leann R. Stluka (Johnson), 55, of Milton left this world to be with her maker on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at Agrace Hospice after her five year battle with breast cancer. She was born on Dec. 7, 1958 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of the late David Peterson and the late Mary (Kauk) Peterson. Leann grew up in Footville, WI with her five siblings on her parents farm. She was daddy’s little helper and enjoyed spending time with her father who taught her how to fix things and drive the farm equipment. She was happiest when helping others, providing meals to the homeless shelter, most of all spending time in the outdoors.  Leann was very involved with her church, Milton United Methodist.

(Stearns) Manogue. Charlene graduated from Milton Union High School, class of 1951. She and her classmates celebrated their 60th class reunion in 2011.

Bob spent his boyhood in Greendale, WI and graduated from Greendale High School. He attended Ripon College and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961.

After the death of her parents, Frank and Cecelia (Fitzgerald) Griffin, in her infancy, she moved to Janesville and was raised by an uncle and aunt, John and Ethel Griffin. She attended area schools and graduated from Milton High School in 1940. Mary attended Marvel School of Cosmetology and worked in Janesville and Whitewater before her marriage to Hubert Wright on Oct. 18, 1947, at Saint Mary Parish in Milton Junction.

John Gordon Godfrey, 86, of Sunset Drive, Milton, died Oct. 22, 2014 at Edgerton Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1927 to John F. and Lula May (Hobbs) Godfrey. He graduated from Milton Union High School in 1946. John entered the Air Force shortly after graduation. When he retired from the service he made Galena, Alaska his home. He spent many years living in Alaska and wintering in Wisconsin before moving back to Milton.

Her parents moved to Nekoosa, WI when she was two years old. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Alexander High School in Nekoosa, WI. Gerald Passer “Jerry,” age 78, found peace on Sunday, Oct. 19 surrounded by family in West Bend. He was born on Feb. 1, 1936 on the family farm in Jefferson County to Hugo and Ethel (nee Schmidt) Passer. Jerry was raised in Whitewater, attended Whitewater University, and spent most of his adult life in Milton. Jerry was a member of the Army National Guard and served the Rock County Sheriff’s Department for 16 years.
