Goodrich Square Splash Pad Grand Opening
The grand opening celebration for the Goodrich Square Splash Pad will be Friday, July 19 at 5 p.m.
During the last two years, the Goodrich Square Steering Committee, Milton City Council and city staff worked to bring the project to life, according to a press release from the city. The public was invited to attend the grand opening event, which marks one of the first major components of the community’s redevelopment efforts in Goodrich Square.
"This is a project that has only been possible because of the efforts of our entire community,” Milton Mayor Brett Frazier said. “From businesses, to citizens young and old, to elected and appointed officials and everyone in between, this has been an example of the strong sense of community that makes Milton special."
Frazier emphasized the excitement associated with this project will be used as a catalyst for future redevelopment efforts in Goodrich Square.
“This is a strong first step in the redevelopment of Goodrich Square as a focal point of recreation and commerce in the City of Milton," Frazier said.
The Goodrich Square Splash Pad is scheduled to be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days per week. The splash pad will generally be staffed during regular operating hours and concessions will be sold at the splash pad from the pavilion.
The splash pad is located in South Goodrich Park at the corner of Parkview Drive and East High Street. It has 10 interactive water features on three spray-pad areas designed for three different age groups, according to the project’s design plan.
A “railroad track walk” meanders through the park and nearby benches and landscaping follow a theme that promotes Milton’s history.
Funding for the $344,000 project is being provided through tax incremental financing (TIF) revenue and approximately $51,000 in donations.
