The Janesville-Beloit PGA Junior League all-star team won the state sub-regional tournament at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison on Saturday.

The team, which includes five kids from Milton, beat Green Bay 8-4 in the semifinals and Madison West 7.5-4.5 in the finals. The five Milton kids on the team are: Brett Wieland, Kade Wieland, Xander Wuetrich, Mya Nicholson and Deegan Riley.

The PGA Junior League postseason is comprised of “all-star” teams formed from teams in a local league. The Janesville-Beloit team is made up of players from Oak Ridge Golf Course in Milton, Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon and the Beloit Club. It is coached by Travis Becker of Beloit and Kirk Wieland of Milton.

The team made it to the state sub-regional out of the Lake Geneva pod, beating Kenosha and Lake Geneva.

Its next competition will be at the regional tournament, which is a four-team round robin over the course of two days on Saturday and Sunday at Brown Deer Golf Course in Milwaukee. Janesville-Beloit will play against Cog Hill (Chicago), East Metro Minnesota (Minneapolis) and Randall Oaks (West Dundee, Ill.).
