Summer is about to begin, and that means it’s time for the annual Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Festival, also known as the Backyard Bash.
Following tradition, events are set for Sunday and Monday of the Memorial Day weekend, on the grounds behind the school at 4913 Schofield St. The festival is open to the entire community.
Live music, food, beverages, games, inflatables and a magic show for children, a euchre tournament, bingo, raffle, homemade bakery and pies, a white elephant sale and more will round out the weekend of fun.
The euchre tournament will begin with registration at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with games to follow at 5 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per player.
Live entertainment throughout the weekend will feature music by Retro Specz from 7-10 p.m. Sunday, Bob Braier’s Magic Show from 1-1:45 p.m. Monday and Universal Sound from 1-4 p.m. Monday.
The full schedule of events for Sunday includes a volleyball tournament from noon to 5 p.m., grilled food from noon to 9 p.m., soda and beer from noon to 10 p.m., inflatables for children from 2-9 p.m., the euchre tournament and Retro Specz.
Monday’s activities begin with the white elephant sale from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the bake sale, pie and coffee in the school from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wally Ladik’s polka music, Bab Braier’s Magic Show, a magician strolling the grounds from 2-3 p.m., music by Universal Sound, free bingo in Marian Hall from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and the raffle drawing in Marian Hall at 4:45 p.m. The grand prize for the raffle is $3,000.
Visa and MasterCard are accepted, and an ATM will be available on site.
