Bike sculpture

For those who have not yet noticed, there is a new bike art sculpture near the Glacial Drumlin State Trail in Cottage Grove. Dennis Bork, a member of the Cottage Grove Area Historical Society, approached Dale and Dwight Huston about creating something to mark the trailhead. Both Hustons liked the idea of promoting the trial and emphasizing the 1855 Saloon and Grill and the Olde Town Coffee Shop as part of the trail entrance. The Hustons contracted blacksmith Bob Lien, one of their employees, to create the piece. Lien worked from a picture of a bike during the winter months to create the sculpture. The Huston Company’s paint shop staff painted the piece, and other employees installed it. Bork said he handle the upkeep of the surrounding plantings.
