In one of the closest finals in the history of Prairie Athletic Club Team Racquetball, Action Plumbing and Heating edged The Lost Court for the 2018-19 title in a total points tie-breaker.
Each team had three players win their match in two — the top three players for Action Plumbing and Heating and the bottom three for The Lost Court. With the match tied at nine, total points in all of the matches was the tie-breaker and Action Plumbing and Heating won, 147-131.
Action Plumbing and Heating and The Lost Court dominated Team Racquetball play all season, but as often is the case the playoffs were far more competitive, with every single match decided by one team point or the total points tie-breaker.
Action Plumbing and Heating held off Cannery Wine and Spirits, 10-9, to reach the final as Mark Schneider’s point was the difference. Aaron Reisman and Jason Smith both won a pair of matches for Action Plumbing and Heating, while Alex Korenic and Dave Bajkiewicz each won one. Smith’s win by 18 points in the final was huge.
The Lost Court needed a points tie-breaker to top Capitol Square Dentistry in its semi-final. Tied at nine after the matches were players, The Lost Court won the tie-breaker 140-124. Keith Holmes and Luke Titel each won a pair of matches for The Lost Court, while Nick Uebelacker and Damon Scarborough each had one win. Uebelacker’s 30-3 total points win in the semi was key.
Capitol Square Dentistry advanced to the semis with a 10-9 victory over Hirschinger Insurance while Cannery Wine & Spirits moved on 11-10 over American Family Insurance, “Smokey” Anderson Agency.
