Reptiles and more at June 30 church service

Adam Christopher will educate Bristol Lutheran Church members on Reptiles and Amphibians during June 30 Fellowship.

Want to learn more about reptiles and praise the Lord at the time?

On June 30, Adam Christopher will educate Bristol Lutheran Church members on Reptiles and Amphibians during Fellowship at 10 a.m.

Here are a few facts:

• There are currently, over 2,800 species of reptile and amphibian, on the endangered species list.

• 21 percent of all amphibian species are endangered or critically endangered.

• Recent data suggests that over 200 species of frogs have gone extinct in the last century.

•Average extinction rates observed during 1971–2000 suggest that, about 6.9 percent of frog species may be lost within the next century. To put those numbers in context, the data suggest that extinction rates for reptiles and amphibians are about 10,000 times larger than the rates for all other organisms.

• Climate change has been a factor, but habitat loss, pollution and a fungus called Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis have all been major contributors.

Join the event at the Bristol Lutheran Church, 6835 County N, Sun Prairie for this interesting topic and meet some of the reptiles.
