Sun Prairie/Lodi- Janet Elaine Olson MD, FAAFP, 68, died on Sunday evening, Dec. 27, 2015 in Lodi, Wis. Jan was born in Plainfield, N.J. on June 8, 1947. She spent her childhood in New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania and graduated from Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pa. in 1965.

Obituary: Anthony J. “Tony” Guastella

Sun Prairie/ Port Charlotte, Florida-Anthony J. “Tony” Guastella, 91, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Harbor Terrace Skilled Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida. Tony, formerly of Sun Prairie and Madison, Wis. has resided in Florida since 2001. Tony was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 17, 1924. He had worked as a printer all of his adult life until retirement in 2000. He was first employed at Cantwell Printing after returning from the military service. He also worked at Mayland Printing, Royal Printing and Insty- Prints until opening his own business, Tony’s Instant Litho Printing, in 1978 where he worked until his retirement. Tony Guastella was married to Elena (Odorico) Guastella who passed away on March 19, 2002. Tony was one of four brothers, two of whom, Joseph and Russell, precede him in death. He is survived by his children, Jean (Nick) Bisenius of Madison, Wis., Judy (Patrick Schaefer) Sweeney of Shoreview, Minn. and Joseph (Rochelle) Guastella of Sun Prairie, Wis.; grandchildren include Christopher (Tracy) Bisenius, Matthew (Dana) Bisenius, Robert (Tiffany) Bisenius , Ryan Sweeney (Katie Parker), Tyler Sweeney, Chad (Elena) Guastella and Jaclyn Guastella; great-grandchildren include Lauren and Ben Bisenius, Max and Lucy Bisenius, Annabelle Bisenius and Giada Guastella. Tony Guastella is survived by his younger brother Charles (Lucille) of Madison, Wis. and sister-in-law Matilda Schuchardt as well as a dear friend, Arlene Fazzino.Tony was an avid golfer who was active in the development of Sun Prairie Golf Course in its early years. He is well known for his artistic ability as depicted in his numerous wild life paintings. Tony Guastella will be buried next to his loving wife of 55 years at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, Wis. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the UW Carbone Cancer Center/ GI Oncology, Madison, Wis. or a local hospice of your choice. Final details regarding the date and time of a memorial service will be forthcoming.

Obituary: David F. Hults

Stoughton-David F. Hults went to be with the Lord, March 15, 2016, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He passed away peacefully at home under the care of Agrace HospiceCare. David was born Dec. 2, 1938, to Palmer and Karisma Hults in LaCrosse, Wis. Karisma later remarried Chuck Mudtzel who Dave considered his father. Dave graduated from East High School in the class of 1958. After high school he attended Madison Business College. He was united in marriage to Pat (Karen Friedland) on May 16, 1964. They had 51 wonderful years together. Dave spent most of his professional life in the automobile business. He first started at Hult Chevrolet as a salesman. From there he went to Green Bay to work with VanBoxtel Ford as a used car manager. For a short period of time he wholesaled cars then went to work with Middleton Motors as a General Manager. His goal was always to have his own dealership by the age of 40. In 1977 he achieved his goal and started Hults Ford Mercury in Stoughton, Wis. Dave's passion to succeed and provide for his family allowed him to expand his dealership to the "Incredible" Hults Chrysler Ford Mercury, Plymouth Dodge Chevy Geo "on the Madison side of beautiful Stoughton". After 23 years Dave was able to sell his dealerships and retire. Dave served in the Air National Guard Reserves. He was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church, a loyal Badger fan and financial supporter of UW athletics. He enjoyed being very active, was an avid runner and racquetball player. Most recently he enjoyed playing Pickleball and Texas hold'em. Dave and Pat loved to travel, a few of their favorites were Ireland, Bachelor Gulch in Colorado, islands of Hawaii, California and Spain. Dave and Pat owned a beach front condo in San Key, Fla. for 12 years where they enjoyed many good times with family and friends. In 2013 they purchased a second home in Las Vegas, Nev. where they enjoyed spending their winters. He is survived by his wife Pat; son, Brad (Ana); daughter, Chris (Andy) Thompson of Sun Prairie; five grandchildren, Mitch, Matt, Cole, Taylor and Luke; brother; Paul (Jane); sister, Carol Bottoms of Texas; uncle, Emrick (Joyce) Espelien; aunt, Esther Hayes; cousins; brother-in-law, Bill (Merly) Friedland of Mascoutah, Ill.; brother-in-law, Pete (Cathy) Friedland of Madison; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Bob) Lytle of Poynette; and nieces and nephews. Dave had a special place and love in his heart for the family pets. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Carol and father-in-law, Red Friedland; aunt, JoAnn Peterson; and nephew, Greg Schultz and his grandparents, Selma and Eric Espelien. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Stoughton Funeral Home, 1358 Hwy 51 N., Stoughton, on Friday, March 18, 2016, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from noon until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Rd. B, Stoughton, Wis. at 1 p.m. Immediately following there will be a celebration of Dave's life at the Stoughton Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or Christ Lutheran Church. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will live forever in our hearts and will be missed dearly. Love you Dave. Sun Prairie- Eda A. Hoffland, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Willows Nursing Home in Sun Prairie. She was born on Aug. 14, 1915 in Madison to Anton and Anna (Schneller) Gassner. She married E. Milo Hoffland in 1937 in Iowa. She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in DeForest and current member of United Methodist Church in Sun Prairie. She was an avid Brewer and Packer Fan. Eda loved to travel with her husband and later with friends in U.S., Canada and Europe. She was an active volunteer at Colonial View Apartments where she was a longtime resident.

Sun Prairie/Hayward -- Joyce Lorraine Ellen (Horton) Odell, age 87, of Hayward and Sun Prairie, WI, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 in Madison. Joyce was born Sept. 13, 1928 in St. Paul, Minn. to Anne Treleaven and Thomas Horton. Joyce graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 1946 and from the University of Minnesota in 1949. She then attended the Ancker School of Nursing in St. Paul. Following her passion for travel and adventure, she became a hostess for Capital Airlines and later for United Airlines when they merged in 1961. While stationed in Minneapolis and Washington DC, Joyce especially enjoyed flying routes to New York; exploring the city and attending Broadway shows. She was passionate about the outdoors and in 1957 purchased a cabin on 40 acres near the Chippewa Flowage. On Feb. 17, 1963 she married a pilot, Robert (Bob) Odell and settled in Arlington Heights, Ill., eventually moving to Hayward in 1971. Although she kept her home in Hayward, she moved to Sun Prairie in 2001 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Joyce had a great sense of adventure and life-long love of learning. An athlete in high school, she played basketball and kittenball (softball). Joyce was a voracious reader, loved travel, cheering for her beloved Minnesota Vikings and Golden Gophers, tinkering with things and discovering how they worked, helping others and spending time outdoors in the beautiful Northwoods. Finding “treasure” with her metal detector was a special passion and she was a founding member of the Treasure, Trash and Artifacts Club. She could whistle any tune beautifully, made the best jelly ever and her hand-knit mittens were legendary amongst extended family. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren; attending an infinite number of their softball, soccer, volleyball and basketball games throughout the years. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Robert Odell, infant son Matthew, step-son Robert Odell, Jr. and a brother, Douglas Hendrickson (St. Paul). She is survived by her daughter Emily Peterson (Sun Prairie, Wis.), son Stephen Odell (Aurora, Ill.) and granddaughters Kestra, Allie and Bria Peterson (Sun Prairie, Wis.).

COLUMBUS/SUN PRAIRIE--Orville L. Drolshagen age 88, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg. He was born on May 9, 1927 in Columbus to Peter SR and Leona (Wodill) Drolshagen. He farmed on the family farm for many years. After farming he was employed at Cenex Feed until his retirement and was also a former part-time police officer for the village of Fall River. Orville was an avid Packers fan and hunting and trap shooting enthusiast. He especially loved slow-pitch softball and baseball where he played, coached and refereed through the years. Survivors include his two sons, Daniel (Dodi) and Michael both of Columbus; one daughter, Pat (Russ) Hoff of Columbus; five grandchildren Bryan (Heather), Drolshagen, Tina Drolshagen, Caleb Drolshagen, Colin (Heidi) Drolshagen, Curtis (Susie) Drolshagen; three great grandchildren Kimber, C.J. and Peyton; his former wife, Marie Drolshagen of Columbus; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Herbert and Peter; one sister Catherine Lyons. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

She was united in marriage to Richard Amelse, the love of her life for 52 years on Oct. 12, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boyd. Diane worked for Goodyear in Sun Prairie for 27 years retiring in 2001. She represented Goodyear and her local union as a loaned executive to the United Way of Dane County in 1990. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary 333.

Madison - Ellen “Ellie” J. Miller of Madison died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, from end-stage kidney disease and diabetes. She was born on Feb. 6, 1951 during one of the coldest and snowiest winters on record. Her father had the snowplow driver from the county garage on call to plow out their farm’s driveway so they could make it to the hospital on time. Her mother nicknamed her “Ginger” because of Ellie’s spitfire personality.

LaVonne Catherine (Gritzmacher) Chase passed away on Monday, Jan. 11 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the same hospital where she was born 89 years earlier on April 12, 1926. She lived most of her life in Sun Prairie and Madison and was primarily a homemaker who loved being a mother of five children. She is survived by sister Virginia (Robert) Skavlen, Madison and brother William Gritzmacher, Sun Prairie, four children, son Paul (Mary Weck) Chase, Galena, Ill., daughters Kathy (John) Keller, Green Bay, Joy (Scott Page) Chase, Madison and Julie Chase, Madison, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Leo (Happy) and Clara Gritzmacher, brother Gerald Gritzmacher and daughter Cheryl Elizabeth (Chase) Boggs.

Pat was united in marriage to Dwight G. Norman on Oct. 29, 1955, in Waterloo. Pat graduated from Waterloo High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Pat worked at the National Institute of Health and worked through the polio epidemic. Pat and Dwight moved to Milwaukee and then to Sun Prairie where Pat lived for the last 47 years. She was a charter member of St. Albert The Great Catholic Church. Pat was a loving mother and wife. She had a love of music and enjoyed playing piano.

She attended grade school in Black Duck, Minn. and high school in Bemidji, Minn. Mae was an accomplished seamstress, avid gardener and homemaker. In 1944, Mae married Donald Dickinson of Bemidji, who passed away in 1976. She then married Glenn Wolf of Sun Prairie in 1984 and he preceded her in death in 2005. Mae is survived by her daughter; Diane Watson, grandson; Brad Krebs, sister-in-law; Emily Lovering, special nieces and good friend Marlene Konopacki. Mae was preceded in death by her son, Steven Dickinson, brother Steven Lovering and sister Lois White.

On April 30, 1949, Jim married Audrey Derr and together they raised two sons, Michael and Allen. Jim and Audrey were married for 53 years before Audrey’s passing in 2003. In 2004, Jim married Anne North.

He was born on March 8, 1956, in Morris, Minn., the son of Shirley and Jim Lembcke. He married Gale Graves on Aug. 23, 1987. Mike was the life of the party. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially at Pride of America Campground. Mike would help anyone in need, “Dr. Mike was always there.” He owned Lembcke Lock, and worked at McGovern’s for many years. Mike is survived by his wife, Gale; daughters, Nicole, Nina and Michele; grandsons, Geoff and Chris; great-grandchildren, Christa and Chandler; his parents; brothers, Jim “J.R.” (Marlene) and Craig (Lynn); sister, Linda; sister-in-law, Deb (Mike) Root; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Wendy) Graves, William Graves, Tammy Graves Potter and Cheryl Brown. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at his home, 2539 Vinburn Rd., Sun Prairie, from 3 p.m.- 7 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his golfing buddies. He enjoyed spending time at the deer hunting cabin with family and friends. He was a devoted family man.

Dolores was united in marriage to William Collins on Jan. 21, 1942. Together they lived in Milwaukee, Port Washington, and Sun Prairie. Dolores graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee and then served in the Navy WAVES during World War II. She was a loving wife and mother to her children and enjoyed music, playing bridge and loved to golf.

He was employed as a designer for many years with Thomas Industries. Al was a long time volunteer with the East Troy Electric Railroad Museum, and a past member of the Dairyland Theater Organ Society. Al enjoyed model railroading, and music, constructing violins and guitars in the past.

SUN PRAIRIE – Gerald Allen “Jerry” McGovern, age 92, passed away on Sept. 24, 2015 surrounded by his family at Agrace Hospice Care. He was born April 21, 1923 in Portland, Wis. the son of Allen and Lucilla (Blashka) McGovern. Jerry served in the Navy during World War II. He was united in marriage to Jean Tjugum on May 13, 1950 in Sun Prairie. Jerry owned and operated McGovern’s Enterprise in Sun Prairie.

Obituary: Dwight G. Norman

Dwight G. Norman, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 30, 1931 in Madison, son to Dwight L. and Edith (Peck) Norman. Dwight was united in marriage to Patricia Motl on Oct. 29, 1955 in Waterloo. Dwight graduated from East HS and UW-Madison. He served honorably in the US Army in Washington DC. He served his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta with distinction for over 40 years, being cited into the Fraternity’s Distinguished Chapter in 1992. Dwight started his own business, Norman Construction in Sun Prairie, after working many years in the city of Milwaukee.

Obituary: Jane Margaret Skalitzky

Sun Prairie - Jane Margaret Skalitzky, age 68, passed away on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 way too soon but is now with our Lord. She was born to Wilfred and Verena Grosse on July 9, 1947 and raised on a farm near Sun Prairie. She met the love of her life, Joseph Skalitzky, and they were married on Nov. 25, 1967 at Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie. She was a tremendous person who impacted so many people as an educator, volunteer, and friend. Jane was a generous and caring person who always put others’ needs before her own. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to have fun and at times acted much younger than her age. She will be greatly missed by all.

SUN PRAIRIE-Valerie C. Tupa, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at The Lighthouse of Sun Prairie. She was born on Nov. 19, 1935, in Evergreen Park, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Marguerite (Hannon) Sadler. Valerie had a lifelong love of portrait art, music and singing in church choirs. Valerie is survived by her sons, the Rev. Michael Tupa, John (Pan) Tupa, David (Sharon) Tupa and Charles Tupa; daughters, Emily (Anthony) Jarrett and Lenore (Fred) Godding; and grandchildren, Acacia and Talia Tupa, Andrew, Marcus, Janelle, Nathan, Lauren, Matthew and Mitchell Jarrett and Shannon Godding. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John on Jan. 12, 2004; and sister, Sally Dusek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St Albert Dr., Sun Prairie, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, with Msgr. Terrence Connors presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. Visitation will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. COLUMBUS--LeRoy H. Stier age 93, died on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 at the Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus. He was born on June 28, 1922 in the Town of Bristol to Casper and Ida (Hessel) Stier. LeRoy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married to Virginia Hurckman on Sept. 10, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Bristol.

Obituary: Irene E. Offerdahl

WAUKESHA – Irene E. Offerdahl, age 85, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Linden Grove in Waukesha. She was born June 6, 1930, in Sheboygan Wis., the middle child of the late Edgar and Rose (Altenbach) Harff. She graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in art education and was an art teacher at Stoughton city schools for several years before teaching art at Randall Elementary School in Madison. On June 28, 1958, she married the former Arnold N. Offerdahl from Stoughton. Irene and Arnold started their family in Madison, then moved to Wisconsin Rapids, and then to Fort Atkinson where their children graduated from high school. In the late 70s, Irene began a new career teaching furniture refinishing classes to her “beloved” Madison Area Technical College (MATC) students in Fort Atkinson and in the Madison area, before retiring in 1995. From 1982 to 2006 she lived in Sun Prairie, Wis., before finally moving to Linden Grove, Waukesha.
