Sun Prairie starts 2019 recognized as a Wisconsin Active Together Community to promote active lifestyles and for a pledge to foster health too.
The newly named Wisconsin Active Together Communities, now reaching 1.4 million Wisconsinites across the state, know that even small changes in the landscape and in promoting being active can add up to creating lasting changes for everyone’s benefit.
Sun Prairie Moves, Inc. and its community partners, demonstrated what they’ve done and a commitment to advancing strategies for safe places to walk, bike, and be active and now joins 20 others to be called a Wisconsin Active Together community.
More communities can also apply to be recognized in 2019 for its commitment to advancing strategies for safe places to walk, bike, and be active while getting connected to resources, training, and a peer network of experts.
Created and supported by a network of local coalitions and statewide organizations, Wisconsin Active Together is also proud to announce the other newly named Wisconsin Active Together Communities (#WIActiveTogether). In order to work to make Wisconsin Active Together, residents are encouraged to join Sun Prairie Moves, Inc. in advancing local strategies for safe places to walk, bike, and be active by getting outdoors and being active.
Coalitions at the regional, county, city, even neighborhood level are encouraged to learn more at WIActiveTogether.org.
Once selected, your organization will be recognized for progress and commitment to making it easier to walk, bike, and be active while also getting support to work towards greater policy change to foster health so their communities can thrive.
“The Wisconsin Active Together Application is easy to fill out and gives you a comprehensive scorecard around walking, biking, and being active,” said Dettmer.
“And we’re going to be able to use the application to work with the City of Sun Prairie, the Sun Prairie Area School District, the Sun Prairie Chamber of Commerce, and other community partners,” Dettmer added, “on how we can improve to make riding a bicycle safer and more accessible for residents of Sun Prairie.”
