Badger Boys State activities wrapped up June 16, after a Sun Prairie High School student was elected as a Supreme Court justice. Dante De La Rosa was among six elected to the Badger Boys State Supreme Court.
Dylan Bradley of Homestead High School was elected as the 2019 Badger Boys State Governor. After four days of campaigning in the city, county, and state levels, the citizens of Badger Boys State decided that Bradley was the best candidate and representative to cap the election of the 78th session of Badger Boys State.
In his address to the public, Gov. Bradley was very thankful for his election to the position and for the support he has received over this week. One of Bradley's first official duties was to select the members of his cabinet. Additionally, he will:
• Be responsible for the proper supervision of appointed officials.
• Have veto power over all legislation provided such authority be exercised within 24 hours from the time legislation is passed. A Legislature may pass legislation over the Governor’s veto by a two-thirds majority of both Houses.
• Have the power to pardon or commute sentences of citizens convicted of violating the laws of Badger Boys State.
• Represent Badger Boys State in all contacts with the citizens of other states.
Friday’s session focused on continuing to implement city, county and state government at Badger Boys State. Friday evening’s assembly included a tribute to Wisconsin veterans that honored those who recently lost their lives in service to our country.
