Discover Wisconsin, the state’s leading media brand and tourism TV show, will be shining the spotlight on Sun Prairie in an upcoming episode. “Sun Prairie – When You’re Here, You’re Home” airs Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports Wisconsin and at 6:30 p.m. WKOW TV 27.

The DW episode is also available for online streaming on Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire, Smart TV, and DiscoverWisconsin.com.

“The City of Sun Prairie is one of the fastest-growing communities in Wisconsin, and we are so proud to be able to show new residents, and residents from all over Wisconsin, the variety of events, history and activities that Sun Prairie has to offer,” said Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser. “The Discover Wisconsin episode is an outstanding way to get a glimpse as to why a visit to Sun Prairie should be on everyone’s list!”

The show kicks off at the Sun Prairie Historical Library & Museum, home to an exhibit honoring Georgia O’Keeffe, who was born in Sun Prairie in 1887. O’Keeffe’s artistic inspiration is present throughout the city in murals and sculptures.

Next, co-host Mariah Haberman heads to Board & Brush, where guests can create custom woodwork masterpieces to take home, all while enjoying the experience with a group of friends.

Co-host Jake Zimmermann, a Sun Prairie resident himself, takes us to downtown Sun Prairie for its famous Groundhog’s Day celebration featuring Jimmy the Groundhog. Later, Zimmermann tours the city with Esser and learns about some of Sun Prairie’s history.

Zimmermann also experiences the vibrant food scene of Sun Prairie by visiting Eddie’s Alehouse and Cannery Wine & Spirits for some local craft beer and home-brewing classes, Sassy Cow Creamery for ice cream, and then to Salvatore’s for a pizza-making lesson.

The episode wraps up at Angell Park, which hosts the Sweet Corn Festival every August and dirt track races on Sunday nights. The crew heads also to Patrick Marsh, a 315-acre wildlife area, and to Prairie Athletic Club, which features a full-sized waterpark, indoor soccer field, basketball courts, and more. The episode comes to a close at the Sun Prairie Ice Arena where Haberman partakes in an ice-skating class.

“Sun Prairie boasts a unique blend of urban flair and small town charm. More and more people are catching on to the magic of this community – it’s a wonderful place to live, work and play,” said Haberman. “We’re thrilled to name Sun Prairie an official 2019 Choice Destination!”
