The City of Sun Prairie has released a “public hearing draft” of its new Comprehensive Plan for public review.

Hard copies of the plan are available for review at:

• The Sun Prairie Public Library, 1350 Linnerud Drive, and

• The Sun Prairie City Clerk’s Office, located on the first floor in the Sun Prairie Municipal Building at 300 E. Main St.

The document is also available on the Planning page of the city’s website at the following link: http://www.cityofsunprairie.com/961/2018-2019-Comprehensive-Plan-Update.

A public hearing to receive public comments on the proposed plan before the Plan Commission is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9. The hearing will be held in the second floor Council Chambers at the Sun Prairie Municipal Building, located at 300 E. Main St. in downtown Sun Prairie.

Community Development Director Scott Kugler said the city’s Comprehensive Plan is intended to represent a vision of Sun Prairie’s future regarding housing, transportation, economic development and land use, among other topics. It is the primary tool used by the City of Sun Prairie to guide decisions regarding growth and development.

Kugler said the plan is intended to guide community growth and development over the next 20 years. It is also used when making decisions on new infrastructure such as street construction, the extension of sanitary sewer and water mains, bike trails and parks and open spaces. It is also consulted for guidance regarding land use and zoning decisions.

Residents are encouraged to review the Plan and provide input either at the public hearing, or in writing prior to the hearing.

Comments submitted to the City of Sun Prairie’s Planning Division in advance of the hearing will be forwarded to the Sun Prairie Plan Commission for consideration.

More information on the plan draft document can be obtained by contacting the City of Sun Prairie’s Community Development Department at 608-825-1107.
