Sun Prairie police issued a traffic advisory on July 17 for West Main Street from Walker Way to O'Keeffe Avenue.
"A heavy traffic condition exists," police said in the Nixle alert posted at 5:26 p.m. "Expet delays through early evening."
The possible cause could be greater-than-anticipated traffic generated by a benefit for the Cory Barr and Ryan Welch families by Culver's Frozen Custard, 1501 W. Main St.
Culver's is giving 50 percent of all sales to the two families following the July 10 explosion that killed Capt. Barr and injured fellow firefighter Welch.
Individuals participating in the fundraiser reported packed parking lots and a 30-minute wait to cycle through the store's drive-through at lunch time.
WISC-TV 3 and The Sun 103.5 FM also conducted live remote broadcasts from the Sun Prairie Culver's restaurant during the day, including a portion of the lunch hour.
