Waterloo’s Blake Huebner along with Marshall’s Dylan Horstmeyer and Tyler Chadwick were named first-team all-conference, headlining local selections on the 2019 Capitol South Conference team.

Huebner was the only sophomore named to the first team. The pitcher compiled a record of 4-5 in 13 appearances. The right-hander struck out 59 batters in 49 innings, both team-highs, while finishing the season with a 2.00 earned run average.

Horstmeyer was named first-team outfielder. The junior batted .333 with a team-high tying 22 hits in 66 at bats. Among his hits were two doubles while he drove in six and stole a team-best 12 bases.

Chadwick earned first-team honors as a utility player. The junior batted .355 with 22 hits in 62 at bats, including a team-high eight doubles, one triple and a home run. He drove in 15, sharing the team lead with Joseph Cook.

On the mound, the future West Virginia University hurler compiled a 1-2 record and 3.04 ERA. He struck out 45 batters in 23 innings pitched.

The first-team All-CSC honor was the second in as many years for Chadwick.

Waterloo’s Jacob Filter and Brody Tschanz were tabbed second team.

Filter, a junior infielder, batted .321 with 18 hits, among them six doubles. He also drove in 11.

Tschanz, a sophomore infielder, hit at a .246 clip with 14 hits, one double and five RBIs.

Also named second-team All-Capitol South was Marshall’s Josh Wehking. The senior catcher batted .339 with 19 hits, two doubles, a triple and one home run while driving in 12.

The Marshall trio of sophomores Nehemiah Senger and Dawson Kalish and senior Joseph Cook received honorable mention recognition.

Senger batted .267 with seven RBIs.

Kalish hit .240 with eight RBIs.

Cook, who tied for the team lead in hits with 22, batted .295 with 15 RBIs.

Belleville senior infielder Jaydon Winkers was named 2019 Capitol South Player of the Year.
