Waterloo junior Earnest Jiles won the triple jump title at Monday’s WIAA Division 3 Cambridge Regional. Jiles went 40 feet, ¾ inches, advancing to Thursday’s Princeton Sectional.

CAMBRIDGE — Several Waterloo track and field athletes earned top-4 finishes to advance out of Monday’s WIAA Division 3 Cambridge Regional.

Leading the way were four regional championship performances. Junior Earnest Jiles took first in the triple jump when he went 40 feet, ¾ inches. Also earning a regional gold medal was junior Cody Kegler after winning the 110-meter hurdles in 16.63 seconds, while sophomore Brenan Skalitzky won the 800m in 2:02.64.

The final regional champion was junior Christi Forman, who won the 3,200m in 12:11.66.

Three relays also are moving on including the boys’ 4x800 team of Carlos Garcia, Eduardo Garcia, Bradon Springer and Skalitzky (2nd, 9:59.31), the boys’ 4x200 relay of Aaron Brey, Jackson Christenson, Jiles and Andrew Battenberg (4th, 1:41.85), and the girls’ 4x100 relay of Samantha Battenberg, Samantha Sherman, Madison Riddle and Brooke Mosher (2nd, :55.79).

The following Waterloo athletes also qualified for Thursday’s Princeton Sectional:

Second place: Forman (1,600m, 5:35.52), Mosher (high jump, 4-10); Mosher (long jump, 15-3 ¾), Mosher (triple jump, 30-10 ¾, Spencer Noel (110 hurdles, :17.01), Noel (300 hurdles, :43.06), Brey (high jump, 6-0), Samantha Battenberg (pole vault, 7-6).

Third place: Noel (pole vault, 12-6), Amber Kohls (discus, 96-6), Alyssa Spies (pole vault, 7-6)

Fourth place: Kyle Jarona (shot put, 29-5 ¼), Battenberg (100m, :13.92) and Carols Garcia (3,200m, 10:45.04).


The top four finishers at Thursday’s Princeton Sectional advance to the 2019 WIAA State Track & Field Championship May 31-June 1 in La Crosse.



Boys team scores: Cambridge 125.5, Deerfield 105, Waterloo 84.5, Wayland Academy 55, Madison Country Day 43.5, Palmyra-Eagle 37.5, Fall Riverr 37, Hustisford 31, Rio 23, Johnson Creek 18, University Lake School 16, Wisconsin School for the Deaf 2.

Girls team scores: Rio 147.5, Palmyra-Eagle 118.5, Waterloo 100, Cambridge 84.5, Madison Country Day 80, Deerfield 70, Johnson Creek 38.5, Fall River 38, Hustisford 37, Wayland Academy 23, University Lake School 11, Wisconsin School for the Deaf 3.
