The Friends is seeking a Marshall area resident to join the board as secretary. The secretary would need to record the minutes of the meetings, send thank you notes, and other similar duties. Contact Diana Skalitzky if interested in joining the board. Send a note to the library at 605 Waterloo Road, Marshall WI, 53559, or message her on the Marshall Library Facebook page.
The Friends meet every other month on the second Thursday at 6 p.m. Meetings usually last one hour.
The Friends annual book sale is coming, and it is time to donate DVDs, blue rays and books. Gently used, clean and fresh donations are appreciated for this annual fundraiser. The book sale will be held May 9-11. May 11 is also the Marshall area garage sale day, which is coordinated by the Friends. Garage sales can be listed on the official sale map for $5. Forms are at the library, local businesses and on-line at marlib.org (right side of the front page).
Plans were finalized for the Friends Dog Wash in July. This event continues to attract area dogs and their owners where the dogs can get a full “spa day” from the Marshall Pet Care Clinic staff, and Friends volunteers.
Last year’s event attracted over 80 pooches and humans. The Marshall Pet Care Clinic will clip nails and take care of anal glands under the direction of Dr. Luanne Schumacher and the other veterinarians and staff. Details on the exact date will be posted on the library website and Facebook.
Owners need to bring their paperwork showing the latest rabies shot expiration date along with their dog license. This helps ensure the safety of many volunteers.
Recent donations to the library included funds to buy tables for the community room, a projector stand and a commitment to underwrite the cost of announcements for programs. Friends membership is $10 for a family, $5 for an individual and $25 for a business.
