Kiss the cow

Who should kiss the cow? A Penny War will decide. The Karl Junginger Memorial Library is hosting a penny war to determine who will kiss a cow on June 21 during the city band concert on the library lawn. Patrons visiting the library through June 19 will have the opportunity to vote. Coins and bills added to the candidate’s jar will affect the total differently. Pennies and bills add votes and silver coins subtract votes. The candidates include, back row from left, police Chief Denis Sorenson, school district Administrator Brian Henning, and Tammy Renforth. Front row from left, Parks Coordinator Gabe Haberkorn, children librarian Amanda Brueckner, and librarian Kelli Mountford. In celebration of June Dairy Month, free ice cream will also be provided by the Portland Boosters 4-H Club during intermission. The concert will start at 7 p.m.
