Chuck was a friendly, loving and talented man who touched many people with his music, humor and genuine interest in their lives.

Richard A. Wandschneider “Rich,” age 64, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully at Oakwood Village West-Hebron Nursing Home in Madison on June 19, 2015, as a result of complications from a rare neurological disease known as Multiple Systems Atrophy.

Obituary: Peter Bloch

Westport – Peter Conrad Bloch passed away on May 27, 2015, after fighting two difficult cancers over the past two years. In his last days, he was surrounded by his loving family at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital. He was born in Cedarhurst, New York on June 8, 1944, and died just short of his 71st birthday. Peter was the son of the late Konrad Emil Bloch and Lore Teutsch Bloch, who were fortunate to be able to immigrate to the USA from Germany in the late 1930s. He was married to Marianne “Mimi” Bloch for just over 45 wonderful and adventurous years, and is survived by his three wonderful children, Benjamin Nieman Bloch (Venice, Ca.), Emilie Bloch Sondel (Madison), Jesse Sondel (Madison), his sister, Susan Elizabeth Bloch (Philadelphia), and two much loved grandchildren, Jordan and Evan Sondel (Madison). He is survived also by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vicki and Ken Alterwitz (Palm Springs, Ca.), Diana and Michael Rothenberg (New York, N.Y.) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. His family includes Anne Bloch and Lenny and Linda Bloch (New York), Jeffrey Bloch (New Zealand), Evelyn Berkowitz (South Africa), Lewis and Lars Koch, Anne Behrmann, Ned, Susan, Scott, Jenna, Marc, and Dawn Kalin, Paul and Sheri Sondel and their family members.

Waunakee – Beverly “Bev” Marie Bischoff Statz, age 81, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, with her family by her side. She was born in Madison on March 2, 1934, to Herman and Mabel (Penn) Bischoff. Bev married Thomas (Tom) Statz on Aug. 4, 1960, and together they raised seven children. She relied on her strong faith in God and was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church where, for many years, she loved to sing in the choir. Bev graduated from DeForest High School in 1952 where she excelled playing clarinet. She worked at SEARS in the accounting department and did bookkeeping for TomSil Builders. She and Tom also operated the Hofbrau Haus in Waunakee.

Robert Henry “Bob” Raemisch, age 86, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully in God’s arms on May 25, 2015, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Bob was a lifelong resident of Waunakee, most recently at Artisan Assisted Living in Middleton. He was born on Oct. 26, 1928, to Franklin and Lillian Raemisch. Bob and his wife, Betty, were united in holy matrimony on May 11, 1950, at St John’s Church. They raised five children together. Bob was an active member of St. John’s parish for his entire adult life. Bob’s loving wife, Betty, preceded him in death (on 2-8-15).

Obituary: Theodore Pertzborn

Baraboo/Waunakee- Theodore “Ted” A. Pertzborn, II, age 84, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015. He was born on Nov. 21, 1930, in Springfield Corners, Wis., to Theodore A. Pertzborn, Sr. and Elizabeth (Grosse) Pertzborn. Ted proudly served our country in the United States Air Force from Feb. 7, 1949, and was honorably discharged on October 16, 1952. He met his future wife while in the service and they were married on October 21, 1952, in Rapid City, South Dakota, and moved to Wisconsin shortly afterwards, where they raised their family. He was an independent insurance agent and started his own insurance agency in Waunakee, working there until he retired. He was one of the founding members of the Waunakee Rotary, belonged to the American Legion Post 360, the WISM snowmobile club, and the Knights of Columbus.

Romain G. Kessenich, age 85, of Waunakee/ Verona, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Four Winds Manor in Verona. He was born Aug. 15, 1929, to Gerald and Pearl (Borchers) Kessenich. He married Arlene Theisen in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1984. In 1985 Romain married his new found love and favorite dance partner Jeanette (Wittwer) Rieder. She preceded him in death in 2013.

WAUNAKEE- Early Friday morning on April 24, 2015, the angels came down from the heavens to retrieve the spirit of our dear mother, Mary Ann J. Anderson. At the age of 75, Mary Ann passed away at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City, Wisconsin. She was a lifelong resident of Waunakee, born here on Jan. 3, 1940. Mary Ann was the youngest of five children of Frank and Marcella (Uebersetzig) Endres. Her siblings include: Jim (Mary Lou) Endres, Lois (Mac) McMillen, Charlene (Marv) Unger, and Frankie (Judy) Endres.

Louise M. Sande, age 90, of Waunakee, is now at peace with those she loved who passed before her. Her beautiful smile is now smiling down on us from Heaven. Louise was born on April 1, 1925, in Waunakee to Louis and Mary (Illgen) Diericks. She married Edwin Sande on May 3, 1947. He was her beloved and cherished husband and soulmate of more than 51 years. He preceded her in death in 1998. Together Edwin and Louise adopted their daughter, Mary, in 1958 and fulfilled a dream of becoming parents. She was a lifelong resident of Waunakee.

Obituary: Greg Martens

Greg Martens, 92, Oconto Falls, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, at a Madison area hospice care facility. He was born March 13, 1923 in Coleman to Charles and Julia (Rabichaud) Martens. Following graduation from high school and attending college in Oshkosh, Greg entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, now known as the U.S. Air Force and served as a bombardier with the 351st Bomb Group, stationed in Polebrook, England while flying 35 missions over Germany.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1946, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Jeanne (Dalton) Whitnall. Barbara loved sewing. She took several classes and enjoyed visiting fabric shops all over. She is very patriotic, a former military daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, and she always had a strong belief in supporting our veterans. Barbara’s family was incredibly important to her. She grew up in Beaver Dam and spent many summers at Green Lake. As an entrepreneur she combined her creative energy to develop and manage various businesses. Barbara was adventurous, she had the ability to manage, maintain and reestablish herself across many areas. She was very strong in her faith. Barbara enjoyed helping people realize their potential and achieving their goals.

Karls on Nov. 3, 1973, and they lived in Waunakee. She had been employed at Kerry Ingredients for 14 years.

Deforest/ Waunakee – Donald “Donnie” Joseph Miller, age 82 passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at St. Mary’s hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Waunakee on Oct. 13, 1932, to Norbert and Regina (Keller) Miller. Donnie married his true love, Carol Buhler, on Oct. 14, 1954. He served in the army from 1952-1954. He was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church for many years and attended St. John School as a young boy. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1951. Donnie spent many years in the family grocery business, beginning at age 3 when he cracked nuts in his Grandpa Miller’s store. In 1988, he received the Wisconsin Grocer of the Year award. He was very active in numerous community organizations including the Waunakee Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion, and the Rotary. Most recently, Donnie and Carol were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westport. Donnie enjoyed raising his children and spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a life-long Green Bay Packers Fan and enjoyed attending games including the “Ice Bowl”.

Albert “Al” Kuehn, age 90, of Waunakee, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at the Waunakee Manor. He was born on Jan. 25, 1925, in the Town of Springfield to John and Appolonia (Schroeder) Kuehn. Al married Olga Bowar on May 26, 1948, and she preceded him in death in 2006. He was employed at Oscar Mayer for over 35 years and served as the Waunakee Village Assessor for 11 years. Al volunteered for 10 years with Meals on Wheels and was a member of St John the Baptist Parish for 66 years.

Waunakee – Martha Y. Rotelli, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. She was born in McKeesport, Penn., to the late Dane and Mildred (Terbovich) Yancic. She was the devoted and loving wife of Leo A. Rotelli. They married and moved to Chicago, where Martha fell in love with "her city." She treasured Chicago, its fashion, fine dining, opera, parades and circuses alike. Martha liked to always "make memories" as she would say and to observe holiday traditions. She was the original "Martha Stewart," a talented gourmet cook, seamstress and knitter. She enjoyed politics, liked to fish and played golf so well that she even got a hole-in-one. Martha was a school board member, a den mother and everything in between. Above all though, she treasured her role as a mother, a “Granny” and a “Gum-Gum,” and made sure her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always felt special and loved.

Waunakee – Ronald Wenzel, age 79, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015. He was born on Feb. 2, 1935, in Freeport, Ill., to the late Edward and Verna Wenzel. Ron graduated from Shannon High School, where he was the Valedictorian of his class. After graduation, he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Ron moved to Madison, Wis., after his military service, where he married Wanda Hauser. Ron worked for Consolidated Oil, where he was the district manager. After a wonderful career at Consolidated Oil, he worked at National Guardian Life Insurance Company in Madison for many years. He finally retired after working with the state of Wisconsin.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, drawing and spending time with family and friends. Anne was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Waunakee.

Obituary: Thomas Helt

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, we said goodbye to our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Thomas N. “Tom” Helt. Tom was warmly greeted by his son Danny and infant son Travis. He fought so patiently and courageously the battle of pancreatitis. Tom was born on April 18, 1939 in Ashton to William and Rose (Ripp) Helt where he grew up on the family farm playing many games of cards and baseball. He found the love of his life at a Fish Lake dance and married Marlene Haas on July 12, 1960. Once a farmer, always a farmer. Tom worked as a young man for Joe Wagner, Fuzzy Fassbender, Fuchs Trucking and in 1963 rented the Raemisch farm and purchased it in 1976. This is where Tom and Marlene farmed and raised their children to be good stewards of the land, to return to the land what you receive and instilled in them the importance of treating everyone like you would want to be treated.

Margaret Loretta Laufenberg, age 101, of Waunakee, died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. She was born on Sept. 14, 1913, in Dane to Chris and Julia (Endres) Koch. She married Theodore Laufenberg on Oct. 22, 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She was employed by the K-Mart Corp. for 22 years until retiring in 1983. Margaret was a lifelong member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Middleton and the Christian Mothers Society and was very active in both. She enjoyed playing cards with numerous card groups over the years, loved to crochet pot holders, and baked the best chocolate chip cookies ever!

Rita M. Endres, 92, of Waunakee passed away on Friday Dec. 12, 2014, peacefully at her home in Waunakee. Rita was born in Marxsville on Aug. 12, 1922, to Louis and Teresa (Meinholz) Meier. She married Edward Endres on Oct. 21, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 2012. As a young woman she was employed by the Aldo Leopold family and always enjoyed relating those stories to her family. Rita enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand-children. She was a long time member of St John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee.

James Endres

James “Jim/Franco” Endres, age 64, of Waunakee died peacefully at his home, following a 9-year battle with lymphoma cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born to Harold and Laura (Schwartz) Endres on June 6, 1950. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1968. He married Rosemary “Rose” Acker on April 18, 1970 in Ashton. Franco worked for Yahara Materials over 32 years and was very proud of the road projects he worked on, especially Hwy 151 to Dubuque. He and his brothers were known for tackling any project. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and giving them rides on his golf cart. He also enjoyed cruising the country side with Rosie in his ’84 Corvette and going on “tour” in his red GMC pickup with his buddies. He was drafted to the Army 1970-1972, a member of American Legion Post 360, 1st Vice Commander, and was very involved with the Fish Fries. He was proud to help his son-in-law on their farm as well as an active contributor to the Relay for Life.

Obituary: Vernon Ripp

Vernon J. Ripp, age 87, of Waunakee, went to his eternal home in Heaven on Dec. 1, 2014. He was born on July 27, 1927, to James and Eleanor (Meier) Ripp. He was married to Doris Spahn on Sept. 22, 1949. Together they raised 4 children, Ron (Nancy) of Poynette, Tom of Waunakee, JeanAnn (Don) Stronach of Rio, Dan (Lori) of Waunakee; six grandchildren; Jason Ripp, Travis Stronach, Brandon (fiancée Nykole) Matthew Ripp, Michelle (Joel)Acker, Mike (Kelly Ziegler) Ripp; five great-grandchildren: Azyiah, Conor and Corwin Ripp, Brooks Acker, Kenadi Ziegler Ripp; one sister, Charlene Arnold, and many nieces and nephews and relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dick Ripp, and a brother-in-law, Jim Arnold.

Obituary: Jerry Meyer

WAUNAKEE – Jerry Meyer, age 73, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014, at his home with family. He was born on April 11, 1941, in Monroe, WI and was the son of Elaine and Clarence Wieman-Meyer. He married the love of his life, Debra “Debbie” Muir, on June 21, 1980. Together they raised their two children, Melissa and Scott. Jerry was employed at Oscar Mayer for 30 years and upon retirement, drove bus for the Waunakee School District for 35 years. He will be fondly remembered for his smile, hilarious personality, his love for his community, cruising on his Harley as “EZ Rider,” and most of all, his love for his family.

Obituary: Robert Imhoff

Robert B. Imhoff, age 89, of Packwaukee/Westport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family the morning of Nov. 18, 2014. He was born in Highland, Wis., on May 13, 1925, to Ben and Lena (Munz) Imhoff. On July 21, 1948 he married Edith Urban in Madison. He was the father of Marilyn Brown, Mary Imhoff, Audrey Imhoff, Janet Imhoff, David (Lisa) Imhoff, Annette (Jim) Vanover, and Terry and Linda Caulkins. Grandfather to Vito (Caitlin) DiPiazza, Catherine DiPiazza (Jeff Boatman), Russell DiPiazza (Megan McKay), Suzanna Imhoff, Alesha Imhoff, Jessica Yittri, and Carey Nelson-Yittri; Great-grandfather to Vito DiPiazza, Dominic DiPiazza, Isaac Imhoff, and Emily Nelson. He will be missed by his brother John and many other cherished friends and family members.
