Morgan E. Jones, age 93, of Madison and Waunakee passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Waunakee Manor Nursing Home in Waunakee, WI. Morgan was born April 19, 1920, in Auroraville, Wis., the son of Alvin and Nellie (Davis) Jones. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1938 and worked on the family farm for several years before attending college. Morgan graduated from UW – Madison School of Business in 1946. He spent his career as an insurance agent, receiving his CPCU designation in 1964. He was one of the founders of the Dairyland Chapter of CPCU and served as president from 1973 to 1974. Morgan worked for several insurance companies before establishing his own insurance agency, Consumers Insurance Service, Inc. in Madison, WI in 1971. He retired in 2005. Morgan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Alta Gaylord, on June 19, 1948, in Berlin, Wis. They resided in Stevens Point, Wis., until 1967 when they moved to Madison. Morgan and Alta were longtime members of the First United Methodist Church in Madison. Morgan enjoyed polka music, reading, dancing, traveling to many countries, and wintering in Florida. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at their lake home on Lake Camelot, special holiday and birthday celebrations and spending time with his grandchildren.

Morgan is survived by a son, James (Debra) Jones of Madison and a daughter, Jane (James) Gatz of Waunakee; granddaughters, Lara and Andrea Jones and grandsons, Christopher and Tyler Gatz. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Alta in 2007, and a son, Thomas in 1998.

A funeral service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, Wis., at noon on Friday, January 17, 2014, with Rev. Frank Gaylord officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be at Welsh Cemetery in Berlin on Saturday.

Morgan was a dedicated family man and a loving father, who made a great imprint on our hearts and lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
