Waunakee Utilities earned the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin (MEUW) Safety Achievement Award for safe operating practices at the MEUW 90th Annual Conference Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 17, in Delavan. The locally owned, not-for-profit utility earned the award for their proactive safety activities and dedication to employees’ on-the-job safe work practices.

“Working day-in and day-out with electricity is not something we take lightly. We can’t afford to; safety is the number one priority for our electric crew,” said Tim Herlitzka, General Manager of Waunakee Utilities.

The award takes into consideration training provided to maintain and improve skills, while also acknowledging the commitment of management and the Utility Commission to provide employees with the equipment they need to do their jobs safely.
