A DATE HAS set for the unveiling of the new EMS Monument, it was announced at the June 3 Waunakee Village Board meeting. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. June 26 with refreshments afterwards.

THE DEPARTMENT of Transportation is reminding motorists that June is a peak month for deer-vehicle crashes. Last year in Wisconsin, 515 motorists were injured in deer/vehicle crashes and four people were killed – all four fatalities were motorcyclists, according to a release from WisDOT. Deer activity increases in June as females search for places to give birth and young deer separate from their mothers.

WISCONSIN Emergency Management has announced June 5 as Heat Awareness Day in Wisconsin. A release reminds the public to stay hydrated and cool during summer months and never to leave pet or children in parked cars during warm days.

DANE COUNTY Executive Joe Parisi announced Monday that local communities can apply for Dane County’s $1 million Park and Trail Flood Repair Grant. The fund was created in the Dane County’s 2019 budget to aid communities in recouping flood damage costs due to recent flooding, especially the flooding that occurred last August and September.
